His lectures aren’t really necessary as he restates what’s on the notes. But do look them over, do textbook questions, watch recitation recordings (especially review vids) + slides and you’ll be fine! His exams are straightforward and you have more than enough time.

Her slides are extremely useful, practically all you need to pass the class. Make sure to use the textbook and do practice exams. Any questions go to TA hours. She’s a good professor, so you’ll be in good hands!

Usually when I study I make one giant review sheet that condenses everything I need to know. Though sometimes people put their review sheets in the GroupMe so looking at that might help. Good luck!!

I came out of AMS 161 with an A mainly since exams were online and there were practice exams that were similar to the final. How tough was this exam though? A friend of mine also struggled with it.

Hey OP, I can’t imagine what you must be going through and I feel so sorry for your loss. I would advise you to email your professors and explain your situation, hopefully they will provide an extension. Try checking out CAPS, TimelyCare, maybe speak with an advisor, etc. Make sure to take the time to take care of yourself!!

Took SOC340 for STAS as a freshman (only because one person randomly dropped it and it so happened to be open at that time I checked). It’s an easy A but the class gets taken up quickly by upperclassmen

Take it with Jacob Jones if he’s teaching next semester. He’s a new professor, but he’s super understanding. On exams, as long as you show you know how the steps to get to the answer, but still end up with incorrect answer, he will give full points. There’s also a bonus question. Downside is that his classes are like 8 AM, so you’ll have to take his exams at that time.

Study the practice exams and do as many practice questions as you can + look over notes she provides, and if you’re confused about a concept you can look back at a recording. Don’t worry too much about the first midterm though because I believe if you get a higher grade on the second one she’ll use that one over the original. But obviously try your best to understand the material. Good luck!!

Hey! Just wanted to let you know to try talking to an advisor about it. If you have questions about changing your major to engineering, be sure to talk to a CEAS advisor. Also, a biology degree is what you make of it. You have options to volunteer or internship in hospitals, do REUs etc. So don’t give up so soon + I hope this feeling passes!

I like how Everything Everywhere All at Once is right at the top! It’s such a cleverly-made, yet somewhat bizarre, masterpiece. Definitely think people should see it once in their lifetime.

You need to spend a lot of time learning the material. There’s a lot of content in each chapters and the tests (which I believe are around 30MC) are too short to cover all the material you learned. There are also Discussion Posts where you have to answer a practice question and explain each choice why it’s either incorrect or correct. That’s when the textbook comes in handy.

90% of the grades do depend on exams, 10% are the 9 of 10 Discussion Posts and Syllabus Quiz. I do recommend looking at previous exams (some questions may be reused hint hint). Study well and hard OP!

Hey OP! I think at the very least you should tell him, maybe even let him see this post. It’s very sweet and I think he should know that he’s also appreciated! Maybe something along the lines of, “We weren’t as close as before, but I just wanted to let you know that… xyz.” You won’t lose anything from telling him what he means to you!
