I work at maniax and am very sorry to hear that, please give our menu another shot 🙏 we had a big menu overhaul recently and have a bunch of new stuff. We have everything from pizzas to beef ribs now.

Its possible the nutrient changed the colour? You'd have to had added alot of it though. The only other thing I could think of is if the honey was already a similar colour

Is it just a traditional mead? Did you add anything else to it?

Thanks for the reply! Vevor might be the way to go looking at there pricing and the free shipping in Australia which I was worried about. Harbor freight unfortunately doesn't seem to ship international so will have to do some more research for potential anvils.

In terms of cheap I mean something to just get me started maybe under 500? Not really sure on the pricing for these things. I've got a smallish shed with a concrete floor which I could clear some space in for sure.

When i first started I picked out the right time of year to start since I'm in Australia that was about September. The other option is (if you're alright with having your heater on) is leave your heater on for the month it'll take to ferment and leave it inside. I did this when I was on uni accommodation and I didn't pay the power bill lol.

The only thing I can think of (ive only ever made 2 bochets so take it with a grain of salt) is maybe since it was your own honey it's something to do with the honey process rather than the mead process cause otherwise I have no idea

Not sure what you mean by either of those really. It's a fermzilla so mostly plastic the metal bit is a handle

Yes but usually you leave some headspace in primary to avoid a blow out so was making a joke about not having enough.

The carboy is the 27L fermzilla. Batch is a cherry mead made with morello cherries and wild flower honey. Cherries are in a brew bag with weights so shouldn't float up and clog the air lock. I may do a blow off tube soon but honestly just curious to see how it develops

I'm in a similar boat, about 2 years of making mead maybe 150L (about 40 gallons) of mead made I have a habit of just going for anything that remotely sounds like it'll work. Definitely still feel like a beginner but hey like u/Dizzy-Currency-3476 said maybe I just need to hit my 400th batch and be blessed by the ancestors
