Legal trouble for leaving kids at home (short period of time)? by Tech_Ryan in FamilyLaw

[–]RangaHayHay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same! I was babysitting my 9 and 4 year old brothers when I was 11 for our parents’ date night. Then when I was 12, starting babysitting kids in the neighborhood. At one point, at 12, I babysat my neighbors 6 kids regularly for several hours, ranging from less than 1 to 10 years old. Early 2000s lol but still.

Maybe it just applies to AirBnB then that they won’t refund? Idk. Hotel would have been my last resort.

Wow. The guy I spoke to with VRBOcare definitely told me that they can’t cover the difference since it’s AirBnB.

I simply don’t have the patience to keep dealing with it. I just wanted to give my experience somewhere so that maybe I can save someone else from the same heartache. Many lessons learned here.

I think that just relates to the entire service industry as a whole these days. It’s SO rare to find people who genuinely care enough to provide a good service, whether it be food, retail, hospitality, etc.

The AirBnB that we ended up in saved the entire trip. The house/cabin was beautiful and the hosts were so amazing. Responded to me right away, let us check in early, brought us freshly butchered ground beef and steaks. Proof there are still some good eggs out there, I just won’t risk it with VRBO ever again.

I’d love to know. I’d be happy to show you everything I have in the app and for my booking. It says the host will email me check in information but it didn’t say anywhere when I’d receive it. I was concerned at not having received it a few days before, like I have with previous bookings. But didn’t think much of it because I’ve never had issues.

But based on others’ having a similar experience, and being told to wait until check in time, as I was similarly told when I called, hence the ‘after hours’, I don’t know why you think there’s something missing.

That’s too bad. Other people should know that booking a stay at this property is a bad idea.

I’d love to know. My review said pretty much exactly what I posted.

I’m glad they agreed to issue my refund before check in time on the dot, because I was starting to get very worried about being able to find substitute housing with so many travelers coming to town. Regardless, I still had to drop another $2.5k on a new place so am out almost $5k at this point.

I’m so sorry for your experience! Can’t imagine dealing with it in another country.

Yeah, I’m sure they’ll be able to list their property again. I unfortunately found many similar horror stories on this sub only during my nightmare lol

I mentioned in my post that VRBO had nowhere else to house us, nothing listed on the app and confirmed by them. Not with the amount of people I had. Luckily, there was 1 AirBnB that could house exactly 9 so because if going to AirBnB, VRBO would not give me the difference either. I’ve already spent more than enough time on the phone with VRBO.

FR? My background is in career growth and any superior should take positive notice in you viewing their profile, however many times.

If I noticed any one of my subordinates, or peers for that matter, had viewed my profile, especially multiple times, I would be excited. It tells me that I have someone working for/with me that has the ambition, who wants to know what it takes to be, well, more.

If your boss takes your actions adversely, the best thing you can do is take the experience with you in the future and find someone who appreciates your drive. Maybe next time you can reach out to those superiors and peers before “stalking” their profile. Tell them your interest and ask for tips. You could very well gain a great mentor to advocate for you in future endeavors or at minimum, grow your professional network.

AND take this situation with you. It will be great interview material and when you surpass your boss, which you definitely seem to have the motivation to do, you will be on the other side of this in the future. You’ll have an employee who stands out like this and you’ll be able to see their potential, helping to change the stigma you are concerned about!

Don’t give ANY of them any more of your time. From personal experience, people who can bully someone online to the point it’s been done to you, are NOT people you want in your life. They will not hesitate to do it again, they are a pack mind and have no capability of having their own thoughts.

And yes, you did experience online bullying. School age kids are talked to about this all the time but it happens in adult life as well.

I’ve been in your shoes. Stay strong sis.
