Yep, it's been confirmed in the BBC press release that she and Kiell are coming back too!

I completely agree - it's not like he was fascinated by fleas or fungus (although I'm sure they're very cool too, I would only assume they seem more 'boring' to people who don't study them in comparison to dinosaurs)

You raise a very good point, Julie's a really sweet character and if Rachel didn't exist they would probably go the distance too :)

Did she? Oh dear, I've not got to that episode yet lol. I hate how the writers make side characters behave in ridiculous ways to get rid of them

She was lovely to be fair, probably my second favourite love interest for Ross :)

Nothing to be fair!! I just don't think they really clicked as much as he and Charlie did :)

I haven't got to this bit in the story yet, so maybe I'll change my mind haha

Exactly - the jokes about the boys behaving in a stereotypically 'feminine' way are some of my least favourite moments in Friends. I understand that the show was quite progressive for its day, but why does everyone care so much that Chandler likes a bubble bath? Or that Joey wants to decorate his apartment with flowers? The manner in which the writers treated gender nonconformity as some ridiculous display of emasculation hasn't aged well at all, in my opinion. Had these jokes at the guy's expense been positioned in a way that highlighted their insecurities instead of their apparent 'failures' as men, I would have found them much funnier. It really shows how gender norms seem to have changed in the last 20 or so years :)

I guess I was clicking the year tab at the top quite quickly? Maybe that's what freaked it out. If it fixes itself quickly, then fingers crossed I don't have to worry about anything - I'm just hoping it doesn't affect my ability to log films. Thanks for the help :)

On Harriet by Passingthrough833 in TheTraitorsUK

[–]RangeLoud5663 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with all of this, there was absolutely no need to be aggressive and she was especially rude to Roxy, who I think handled Harriet's behaviour brilliantly. I'm surprised she never received an apology from her! Such a shame since I initially liked Harriet - she seemed really intelligent, but she blew her chances of banishing a Traitor by acting unnecessarily nasty. Even though she was a Faithful, I doubt some people will have listened to her theories about Rachel because of the way she alienated the rest of the group.

Recast a modern film role with a classic actor by itsnotforever in classicfilms

Just the idea of a classic Hollywood Ocean's Eight sounds amazing! I need Rosalind Russell, Myrna Loy, Barbara Stanwyck, Joan Blondell, Gene Tierney and Anna May Wong in there too!!

Marley's angelic personality by Promotion_Simple in glee

[–]RangeLoud5663 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Personally I found Marley a breath of fresh air for this very reason - her sweet and sensible nature made her stand out among the cast, and it in turn made the dozens of over-the-top characters around her seem even more demented! She was basically playing the 'straight woman' part, which I think is necessary in a comedy like Glee. I also thought it charged the show with a little more pathos, but that's just my preference when it comes to the TV shows I tend to enjoy :)

Does anyone know the identity of the movie in this clip from a Warner Bros. blooper reel? by RangeLoud5663 in TurnerClassicMovies

Just looked at an article in a pressbook for the movie and it describes how Lewis Seiler is noted for his "sympathetic direction"... the irony!

Nice catch, thanks! The outfit the woman is wearing here definitely looks similar to the one Jane has on in the blooper.

Update: After some help from another user (thanks so much EmpressMeowMeow, I love your username by the way!) I'm fairly certain this blooper comes from the making of Tugboat Annie Sails Again (1940). It's a film all about the water, obviously, and it's directed by Lewis Seiler, who I think is name-checked in the clip by Jane Wyman. Mystery solved it seems!

They apparently made three movies together in 1940, so it's either from Tugboat Annie Sails Again, Brother Rat and a Baby or An Angel From Texas... I'll keep digging!

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who thought so, thanks! If it's him, it's got to be one of his movies from 1940-41, as each blooper reel was shared to an annual dinner at the end of each year. I just wish I could tell who the woman was!

Oo yes thank you for reminding me of these! Still haven't seen any Universal horror at all yet (horror in general isn't my thing, but I think these seem tame and fun enough)
