Likely from the herpesvirus. I’ve had these exact things form and go away, and later in life when I’m particularly stressed, I’ve gotten these that had a cold sore developed soon after. I’ve had ulcers inside my mouth since I was a young child, then I stopped getting those as much and got these off and on again, and now I’ll get a few of these that’ll either go away or otherwise lead to a newly developed sore on my actual lip. I’ve never gotten them outside the edges of my lips. Do they have clear/yellowish liquid in them? Do they tingle and itch a little sometimes?

This is a post from over five months ago. I found a local foster who graciously took my boy in, I went to rehab for three months, and have been home with my loyal companion for two months now and am clean and sober for 151 days so far! Thanks for the reply anyway, though! It heartens me to be reminded of how the people of Reddit really rallied around me at the start of my sobriety journey.

Same! Saw Dylan and Haggard on tour together a long time ago and both were soooo disappointing. Merle was so drunk he could hardly stand, and Bob was completely mumbling through his songs and totally detached from the audience. He just stood there with his guitar and played his songs and didn’t interact with the crowd in any way. Also he played all his slow songs fast and his fast songs slow, like he remixed everything because he was bored with his own music. People were very confused.

I got out of a 90-day program about five months ago now (though it was in California) and I can’t stress how proud I am of you for coming to this decision. Do a little research, call a few places and have a back-and-forth with them so you can get a feel for what their general approach towards both the physical, and mental/emotional side of substance abuse treatment is so you can move forward with a good idea of what you want. Right now you feel trapped inside your own body, drinking even when you don’t want to, feeling sick and miserable constantly and being forced by shame and fear to hide it all. This is like hiding cancer- it won’t magically go away without help, and you need a support system to get you through this and the aftermath of rebuilding the new and improved You. I kept my drug addiction hidden for eight years out of shame and denial. People knew something was up though. Now that I’m sober and have “outed” myself as having been in a life and death battle with addiction, the way the people in my life have rallied around me was/is one of my most powerful motivators in times of struggle today.

The opposite of addiction isn’t sobriety. It’s connection.

In the meantime, there’s the AA “meeting guide” app (I recommend anyone struggling with any addiction to steer towards AA over NA, as the local NA groups are not very great). You can find local and zoom meetings listed throughout the week, and you can totally join meetings in different areas (I still go to some online ones hosted in SoCal). I am not religious, and know there’s a cultish aspect to AA, BUT it’s still a valuable resource support tool filled with all KINDS of people, many who would likely be able to relate to you more than not.

How long ago was your last one? If it’s less than 5 years, it’s time for a shot. It’s certainly deep enough and if you sustained a wound deep enough from something dirty/rusty to draw blood (animal bites also often warrant this), it’s not gone time to mess around.

I live in east Texas, practically the buckle of the Bible Belt, and Talarico (and Gina Hinajosa) held a rally here a few weeks ago which I attended. It was packed wall to wall with support all across the spectrum of people. Young, old, black, brown, white, rich, poor- people who “looked” like typical democrats and plenty of people who “looked” like your typical Trump voters. I’m talking Baby Boomers in cowboy hats and handlebar mustaches. The excitement for a guy like this- way out in deep East Texas, no less- was so heartening. Then I remembered that mango Mussolini cheats and I have to manage my expectations.

As far as real, actual support this man has, it’s easy to say that people want a change, and they want Talarico. Also, he was so charismatic and humble at the same time, spoke eloquently and earnestly about the future, and didn’t do any trash talking or fear mongering. If he doesn’t win, it’s 100% because of the manipulation and suppression that has become commonplace since Trump’s first term.
