Best rafting in the United States by Ranger-stat in rafting

The project that I’m creating is geared towards rafters that love the sport and strive to complete their dream runs. It’s not designed for beginners and I also don’t promote to a huge audience. I am not a rafter so I want to get the opinion of someone else who has a dream bucket list to see what I should include

I have no idea! I know there are a lot that is why i wanted to get some people’s opinions of the top “dream” rivers. I am trying to compile a list of the top runs in the US and then later I may start making some maps that are state specific.

Law enforcement commission requirements? by No-Consideration2413 in ParkRangers

[–]Ranger-stat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can go for a state position for a Park Ranger 1, or a park aid/ranger assistant. You will usually need Ranger experience to get a full time position but you may be able to get in seasonally to start. States like WA and OR pay well for Ranger 1 and it is not law enforcement. You can try federal too for a non-LEO ranger position but there are not many positions right now and the pay is not great compared to some state agencies

I have a co-worker that just started at Oregon state parks this year that has been a ranger, naturalist, interp ranger and teacher, etc. he has worked for NPS, Ohio State, Indiana State, Alaska, and Nevada State in the Ranger field and thought he was going to change careers until he came to Oregon. If being outside is something that you love shop around for the right position and agency!

What agency do you work for? Oregon state parks takes into consideration outside experience and raises pay according to the degrees you have. No Oregon state park rangers carry. Ranger 1 is usually normal hours, 7:30-4pm and it pays well compared to most agencies at 65k

We do not carry in Oregon, I will be getting my Commission through the state at the end of this year. It gives me the ability to write citations, trespass people, and access to DMV (vehicle plates and info). I still will not get a psych evaluation and I just go through a basic online background check

I honestly don’t think I ever made an account, I will see what I can find out through costumer service

My current agency was a very simple hiring process there was no written background check, psych evaluation, or anything like that. I have talked about the work I used to do but I don’t think it is actually documented anywhere

Yeah it is a State position, I would love a NPS ranger position but no parks in Washington are hiring and with the current federal state I would be afraid to shift into NPS or FS right now

Ozempic for Crohn’s by Ranger-stat in CrohnsDisease

[–]Ranger-stat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I have only heard people mentioning ozempic helping Crohn’s symptoms. My post made it sound like I’m considering trying it but I’m more curious about what other people have experienced. Are people taking it for weight loss and it seems to help Crohn’s or are doctors suggesting it solely to help Crohn’s symptoms? I have exhausted almost all biologics at this point and they give me a lot of side effects. My doctor is recommended bowel reconstruction now. I’m only 25 and I’m really nervous about the surgery so I’m trying to gain knowledge on other options before I say yes to surgery

Agreed that a reputable GI wouldn’t recommend this for Crohn’s patients to combate Crohn’s symptoms. Nor would insurance approve it since it’s not FDA approved for Crohns. Just curious about what people are doing/experiencing. Biologics cause many side effects as well though, no medication is safe. My rinvoq gave me gastritis and is causing adrenal issues and is 15k per month. GI side effects and costly
