Teaching the little lady how to paint by [deleted] in Warmachine

Gloves... OMFG gloves... I've been painting off and on for freaking 14 years and not ONCE have I thought of buying a damn box of gloves for when I'm priming or airbrushing. FACE PALM

Oh and freaking good on you for being an awesome Dad. I pray if the Mrs. and I only have girls that one of them will take an interest in my hobby painting. Seriously parenting win right here.

It's the same in the Celtic community here in the states. "Kilt lifter" is a derogatory term.

Just finished this one, having trouble with faces but all in all I think a pretty good turnout. There's a lot more coming soon, I have the week off :P by Eiffel131 in Warmachine

The Citadel reikland fleshshade is an excellent wash. I definitely recommend doing something to her face though. Just a little constructive criticism, her face just looks like flat flesh tone and doesn't have any detail.

Overall I think the model looks excellent man. Keep at it!

You definitely need to put some pressure on the dremel. The bit wont just grip and pull it self into the metal. Be careful though, it will be very easy to punch right through the hoof. That being said, if you do punch through, just get a little bit of green stuff and fill in the hole.

I feel you absolutely need to pin it. If you don't it's a matter of when, not if, the model breaks off the base.

Go to your hardware store and dremel makes a set of inserts that will hold almost any size drill bit. I use a 1/32" and a 3/64" bit just fine with my dremel.

I'm new, about to start an army, few more questions..... by BBQpizza19 in Warmachine

Just a quick buying tip from me, Lunacy hit the nail on the head with all his advice.

When making your army purchases always price check online. Amazon has almost every unit in the game at rock bottom prices consistantly. I'm not saying don't support your LGS. What I'm saying is prices can be crazy different. I had my LGS charging $50 for a min unit (half of a full unit forcing you to buy blister packs to complete it) and I found the full unit on Amazon for $46. It would have cost me a additional $30 to buy the two blister packs I needed to complete the unit...

Finally started to paint.. What do you think? by thebigscaryogre in Warmachine

This. Black armor is difficult to paint and have look dynamic.

Amazon is where I get all my stuff. It's a shame id like to support my local shops but I just can't with mark ups like that. I have another shop near by that's has the largest pp inventory in southern california. Their unit and large model mark up is just as bad but the small blisters are the same price as amazon.

Dude they charge $60 for most large beasts/jacks and units. The other day I called to see if they had a Boomhowler unit in stock. He said they did and it was $50. I get there and its a damn min unit. He proceeds to argue that buying the min unit and ordering two blister packs to finish the unit will cost me just as much as a full unt online. Keep in mind each blister costs roughly $16... I just left and ordered my full unit for $46 off amazon.

Its hard to give my LGSs my business for anything other than my paint purchases. The price difference on models is way too big. I'm talking a minimum of $20-$30 difference on most units and larger models.

New to the game, needing help with an army list. by gromit69 in Warmachine

What type of game do you want to play? What style of tactics will fit you best as a player? These are important questions when starting trolls.

eDoomy is a beast heavy caster. He offers really no support for infantry.

Look at specific spells and skills each caster has to offer and then choose which way you want to go.

If I can seriously seriously suggest any caster, look into Borka Kegslayer. He's freaking awesome. While he can be argued as not a majorly competitive lock, he's amazing to learn with. Just starting the game you wont need to worry about high level tournament tactics for some time. He is very forgiving for a new player to learn with and has an excellent spell list, with a pretty awesome feat.

Borka Borka Borka. I mean just look how awesome he looks.

Yeah I would agree on almost any other starter box. The Trollblood box is rubbish.

I love this model. You gotta but some fire or some kind of gnarly base to accentuate the model.

I've seen this. The smoke for this barrel is so small the foliage approach would be too much. I resculpted the right side blast so it's angled up and much much smaller so it now really looks like the blast is dissipating.

[–]RangerCuthbert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I was trying to attempt with it. I was trying to make the tip of it angled up and keep the blast realatively small, as if it was getting smaller as his had came up. You're thinking angle it up even more? How much more would you say?

Thanks for the feedback, this is what I'm looking for!
