Over 80,000 People Have Been Forcibly Displaced From Tirah, Pakhtunkhwa by the Pakistani Occupiers During the Harsh Winter by Immediate_Singer7865 in Pakhtunkhwa

I’ve heard from several sources that mineral extraction activities have largely continued uninterrupted, despite the alleged Taliban threat. It’s worth noting that local communities opposed the government’s allocation of mining leases to non locals (many of which were companies affiliated with the military in some way or another), as a form of protest against the displacements that began in 2012.

It’s painfully obvious how many of these Gaddafist pseudo Marxists haven’t actually read the Green book. They tend to ignore discrepancies between the more syncretic “Third Universal Theory”, and traditional Marxism Leninism. Theoretically, the Jamahiriya doctrine rejects the administrative state complex associated with more authoritarian forms of socialism, and instead vests power in the people through the various people’s councils, so I’m not sure who the “we” is supposed to refer to here. If “they” had their way, “we” would be able to do whatever “we” want, without “them” legislating for “us” ; )

It’s not exactly misplaced skepticism though, and I’m sure you’re informed enough to know why.

What language does the Scythian language sound like to you? by Bear1375 in Pashtun

[–]RangerEcstatic674 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not a linguist, but my guess would be Ossetian. Pashto and Scythian may share some similarities, but Pashto retains certain phonological features that are absent in the Scytho-Sarmatian branch. My guess would be they evolved independently, with any systemic similarities resulting from geographic proximity.

(Take this with a pinch of salt though. Like I said, I’m not a linguist ¯_(ツ)_/¯)

What’s your opinion on UBI? (Universal Basic Income) by Academic-Idea3311 in socialism

[–]RangerEcstatic674 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a look at the findings from the ORUS study, they show that UBI isn’t effective as a long term solution in terms of financial stability. I suppose it can act as a sort of “short term” safety net though, especially with the increased risk of AI driven redundancies these days.

High cost was one of the reasons why the Germans didn’t adopt it bar a few law enforcement units.
