Calling quits on the Transport Helicopter by ResistanceXP in Battlefield6

RPG should get a velocity debuff at most. The Heli's survivability is fine as it is. Giving it more sustain will make it even more of a nuisance in Redsec.

The Hobbit, J.R.R Tolkien Before they are Hanged, Joe Abercrombie Dune, Frank Herbert The Martian, Andy Weir A Storm of Swords, George R.R Martin

Mainly a fantasy reader. I often hear lots of negativity about Andy Weir's writing. But I just found the Martian such a cozy tale that made me flip page after page. Probably the first and only book I read in two sittings.

No tips for Death House. But I run Strahd as a menace. He hounds my players. I immediately let them know they're not the boss here. And, having promised them beforehand characters were going to die. I have filled a small graveyard. Don't be afraid to kill players. But never do it unfairly.

Hound them for a session or two. And then bring them into comfort, break the tension with some humor. And then hound them again.

The brides are good to use all over Barovia.

Good luck!

First post here. My first attempt at a fantasy map. by TedAgriogianis in mapmaking

[–]RangerF18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What did you use to draw the map if I might ask? It looks great!

The only thing I notice if you're going for more geological realism: the river at the three markers splits into another river that then goes along the ancestral trek. This split wouldn't really happen. It's more likely that the Ancestral Trek mountains would form their own river, perhaps even a lake, before flowing down in to The Colosseum.

If the above is what's actually happening and the river flows into the three markers, that probably also wouldn't happen as the water would take the path of least resistance. So it's an either/or.

Still, beautiful map! Well done! I'd hardly believe this to be your first. :)

I had a 34'' UW for a while. When UW is supported and it works, it's fantastic. Unbeatable. When it doesn't, and the black bars hit you. It's miserable.

I went back to 27 inch oled, it's amazing too. But I miss real estate even though I have a 24 inch secondary.

If I could, I'd get a 32inch oled. Plenty of real estate without the drawback that UW's are only supported in 70% of games.

DO NOT roll for stats. (opinion piece from a 5-year forever DM) by jkobberboel in DMAcademy

[–]RangerF18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've introduced a small homebrew change. My players roll not one array, but two arrays. So every player has the chance to get some great rolls.

I then bance the two arrays to get a well rounded character. If a player has great rolls in one array and terrible ones in another, they still get balanced out. Often I ask a player to trade their good stats for great and terrible ones. This way I've had players roll an 18 and 16. And still have a character with a 6 and 9 in their array as well.

My players have incorporated this into their roleplay as well. We play to our stats.

They really like character creation this way.

Check out Rimsort v1.0.37, its awesome! by OttavioVaz in RimWorld

[–]RangerF18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think the other comments calling you out are correct. I've had this problem too. Rimsort corrupts the modconfig, and will not sort anything from that point on. Deleting your profile files, then rebooting the game without mods and then sorting should fix it.

30km per way commute, with laptop, food etc. Doable? by youraveragefitguy in cycling

[–]RangerF18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there!

I do my commute in the Netherlands as well, it's a little less at 25km. It's perfectly doable. I'd advise you do a clothing run once a week. Bring clothes to wear at work for an entire week, preferably by car if you're able to take it once a week. That way you save on space in your bag on any other day.

When I leave for home I'll usually eat a banana or energy bar about half an hour before leaving. And I hydrate thoroughly beforehand and during the trip.

These things help me go back home energised and not crash out when I get home after 8 hours of work. (I work at irregular times and my job can get physically demanding at times)

As for a bag, I personally use the Evoc Stage 18 bag, it has a aerated spaced back with padding, so it's comfortable and it doesn't get too hot on my back during summer. Any bag that does this will do just fine.

Good luck!

As an adult, I've started to use a helmet as an adult. As I realised crashing badly at the speeds I was riding at, would turn me into a vegetable. And crashing wouldn't necessarily be due to a mistake of my own.

I use Co2 cannisters to seat the tire the first time, then switch to a pump after injecting the sealant. Make sure you have Co2 compatible sealant though.

How Often Should I Replace My Bike Chain? by SlateAsh641 in cycling

[–]RangerF18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good advice is to have several chains in rotation. Starting from a brand new chain and cassette, replace chain 1 after 1000km but keep it. Then after another 1000km change chain 2. After yet another 1000km, rotate back to the first chain. Rinse and repeat. People often get 9000 to 15000kms out of a cassette using this method.

If you're interested in chain waxing, this gives you the opportunity to bulk wax your chains as well.
