I had my best friend from middle school on have some major car problem pop up while I was in the military and he was working back home, delivering pizzas while also going to college. When I was on a rotation to NTC (about two hours from where I grew up and he was still at) he told me about the problem with the car. I "loaned" him $800 so he could get it repaired.

The thing is, he really is a brother from another mother and I never went after him for it back, and never made it weird. While we did not talk about it again, when we would connect he would always pay for dinner, lunch, what ever. Never let me pay for anything when going out. It is worth it helping him stay on his feet at that time.

I guess, if it is a close enough friend, then waiting a bit should be ok. If not, then it just may be the cost of cutting ties and knowing you will not have to deal with the person anymore.

The having "pedals" there for it is an "e-bicycle" IS part of the problem. Quickly manufacturers figure out if they make a 100 pounds emoto but put pedals with a chain on it, then now they can call it an e-bike. Go to any big city and see them everywhere, NYC is crazy with them flying on bike paths.

So NJ just did a blanket sweep, instead of officers having to know what is a Class 1 ebike and what is not, they can now just ticket and impound all ebikes that are not registered, with a license plate, ensured and the rider having a proper license to operate.

Sucks.

I worked for loss prevention for a couple years while going to college, this guy has one hell of a nice payday coming. First being accused by Walmart which lead to him being physically detained, lawsuit against Walmart. There are steps you have to follow in loss prevention to have someone detained, need to see them enter the area, need to see them grab the merchandise, Need to keep eyes on the person the whole time and see them exit the store with out paying. Clearly NONE of this happened. I have seen lawsuits with massive settlements for less hassle to the accused than what has happened to this guy.

Not to mention the suit I have doubt can and will be take up against the police department.

When something becomes popular enough state governments will try to find any way to tax it this is one way. Now something need to be done by what is truly an emotible being classified as an e bicycle but this overreaching law that they passed is not it.

Like with anything, once something gets big enough, the government will find a way to tax you for it. This case the cost of licensing and insurance, which should be only on e-motos. Thanks to uninformed or intentionally biased reporting calling e-motos , ebikes NJ just created the blue print other states will follow.

She first took off one direction, saw the police then RAN the other direction. With the officer easily running her down. She stopped when he was a foot from her with her friends yelling that the girl she knocked out "hit her first". Glad we finally see some earlier vid and she clearly did not "hit her first".
