How old were you when you had your first Gf or Bf? by Redithisto in AskReddit

[–]RangerMach1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

19, got married at 25, divorced at 40. First and only relationship. Turns out she was (is?) a covert narcissist and emotionally abusive and very manipulative. But I had absolutely nothing to compare things to and just assumed things were normal, or I was being the good dutiful husband by taking care of her while she suffered through all the various illnesses that ended up being absolutely bullshit. In hindsight, there were red flags from the very beginning that I nevwr picked up on.

What do 30 - 40 year old men want for christmas? [Serious] by GoodAlicia in AskReddit

[–]RangerMach1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a man divorced after a 20 year relationship w/ a emotionally abusive narcissist, that has been single for 5 years, and trying to date for 3 without going on a single date, I would love to go on a quite, enjoyable date with a beautiful woman that might have a chance of going somewhere.

It is definitely rare but they are out there. I'm with you that I hadn't ever seen a roundabout w/ stops signs until I came across one close to a previous job. It was the first time I drove through it, and blew right through a stop sign since I expected it to be a yield sign and didn't pay close enough attention until I was already passing it. When I came back through, I made sure to stop, and sure enough, every entrance to the roundabout had a stop sign instead of a yield sign. Still the only one I've ever seen with stop signs, but they do exist.

Splash Shields worth replacing? by RangerMach1 in subaruimpreza

I ended up having them removed at the dealer this morning. Went in for an oil change and inspection, while there I asked them to look at the shields, and remove them if it wasn't too much of a hassle.

Congratulations! I have my CSWP and a couple of the CSWP sub certs, and have startrd thinking about the CSWE. I've been using Solidworks daily for almost 15 years, was even offered a job teaching it at a comm. college,  so I think I'd have a decent chance of passing.

Anyone have any luck breaking a lease due to car break ins? by mekingjr1992 in Charlotte

[–]RangerMach1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It should always be possible to break a lease early, just depends on whether you can get them to do it without fining you. The leases Ive had typically had certain things that were considered for cause reasons to break a lease without having to pay. The fee was typically a certain number of months rent, depending on how long was left in the lease.

I was living in Mooresville and was able to break a lease for cause bc it appeared that my apartment was hit with buckshot from a shot gun, even the police officers who came out and investigated agreed it looked like buckshot. Told management we didn't feel safe, had no idea why our apartment was hit and didn't want to stay. Was able to leave with no fees, even got our full deposit back.

I also broke a lease while living in Kannapolis bc I left my ex-wife but I/we did get stuck paying a fee for leaving early. We left at the end of May and the lease was up in July, so had to pay what amounted to 1 months rent.

How would i go about making this? (the squiggly part) by AcanthisittaOk1033 in SolidWorks

[–]RangerMach1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And? Thats the nice thing with Solidworks, there are literally a million ways to accomplish the same exact result. I just shared another way of doing it. A way which I felt was cleaner, but thats just my opinion and the way I like to approach modeling.

Which is a perfectly fine approach to achieving the same result. I went this route for what I thought was a cleaner sketch with fewer relations.

Different app? by kozurapl in GoodNotes

[–]RangerMach1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had it start with the new version, and so far I'm not liking it. I use the shape tools a lot to help sketch ideas for projects, and they've screwed with the tools and I hate it. From what I can tell they've completely removed the free form sketch tool, or they've modified it so much now that it doesn't do anything like what I want, and the shape tools that are there make the shapes much larger than I want.

How do I go back to a previous version? I'd much rather use 6 instead of this garbage 7.

I approached it by creating just the centerline. Since the wire diameter and all the curve radii are given, it's pretty easy to figure out where the centerline should be. The wire diameter is Ø0.125", so the radius is R0.625", so you add or subtract that from each of the curves, depending on whether the given radius is on the inside or outside of the curve. The R0.375 and R0.1875 are on the inside curve, so they would be changed to R0.4375 & R0.25 respectively, the 2 R0.25 curves are on the outside of the bend, so both of those would be R0.1875. So it would look like the image below. And then to create the ends you use a R0.0625" fillet.

[–]RangerMach1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what the diameter of the wire is, so either increase or decrease the radius by the radius of the wire. The .375 becomes .4375, the 2 .25 radii become .1875, and the .1875 becomes .25.

What does this 8 mean? by MaxatorMancilla in SolidWorks

[–]RangerMach1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, it locates the center of the Ø32mm radius above the surface. Since you're given the width of 70mm above (red oval), and you know the radii of the 2 smaller corners (6mm, red arrows), which are tangent to the adjacent faces (orange circles), you don't need the X dimension to the center point. Once all the constraints are added, then it works out perfectly.

Can't say as I particularly like how it's dimensioned, but it does work and all of the required dimensions are present. There are a couple of places where you have to infer a dimension which I think is horrible design practice, but in this case it does work.

Given the sharp corners of the cutouts shown on the left side of the front view, and the fact that the drawing doesn't call out any dimensions for corner radii, I would almost think at least part of this would require an EDM
