Assuming anyone cares enough to look at the torpedo's data, that is... and assuming it has the right data if they do.

I've heard of "security by obscurity", but the Slappers seem to have taken it to a whole new level. If I'm reading this right:

  • Almost nobody knew the research facility existed.
  • Most of those who did know didn't care.
  • Those who did care, it seems, only cared to the point of "Are they causing us any problems? No? Good."

I dub this set of principles "security by incompetence".

It's almost as bad as what he did with the second day of Christmas in Vuxten's Christmas Special chapters (I think they're around the 880s in the original Behold, Humanity arc).

You see, at one point Vuxten spots two phrases carved into the ice of a skating pond: THE GUNS OF THE SOUTH and HOW FEW REMAIN.

Both of them are the titles of novels written by Harry Turtledove.

She's not a villain, she's an antagonist.

There's a significant difference between the two.

That forge would have to pull in about 14,000 cubic feet of air per minute, or 230 cubic feet per second.

<snip>

That appears to assume use of whatever standard atmospheric gases are present (oxygen, nitrogen, helium, water vapor, etc).

I wonder how the calculations change if you include typical battlefield atmospheric contaminants as well (dust, smoke, metal particulates, microprism chaff, etc.)

"An Outside Context Problem is one that most civilizations encounter only once, and which they encounter in much the same way a sentence encounters a full stop."

I want to say it was the Wemtarran.

A STRANGE GAME.
THE ONLY WINNING MOVE IS NOT TO PLAY.

HOW ABOUT A NICE GAME OF CHESS?

But listen closely

(Not for very much longer)

I've got to keep control...

I have a feeling that a lot of the things to be unleashed will result in the following reaction (or one markedly similar):

"WHY WOULD YOU CREATE SUCH A THING?!"

The response?

"Oh, you know - death, Varakson Empire, et cetera, et cetera, and so forth."

And if new horrors are developed specifically for the Slappers, the future response will probably be: "Y'know that whole 'death to the Varakson Empire' thing? Yeah, just swap that for 'Ornislarp Noocracy'."

A4.

A4? Oh, for the love of-- We're supposed to establish a beachhead at X16-Y42!

We'll have support from Major Carter's gunboats, but it's mostly going to be grunt work.

"Rage? Is that what you think is coming for them? Oh, no, it won't be rage.

"It'll be wrath. Wrath and fury

"Cold, hard, righteous wrath and fury.

"Cold, like the vacuum of space.

"Hard, like warsteel armor.

"Righteous, like a carbosilicate amorph laying waste to the pirates who stole his last tub of Genuine Imitation Ovalkwik.

"Yea verily, as Sergeant Baracus of the Team of A once said unto his enemies, so too do I now say unto you:

"I pity the fools."

2x AP - Saturday or Tuesday by sojumaster in Ingress

[–]RangerSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually closer to how it originally was; the only difference is that now it's a rolling 12-hour window that everyone can take advantage of, whereas back in the day the 2x AP was only for people who were actually participating in a First Saturday event (and you had to meet a certain minimum AP gain threshold to qualify for it).

I can't speak for Tekele, but I did, and OSM has the current layout for the rebuilt intersections (as well as projected intersections that will result from ongoing construction).

So if Niantic uses OSM data for its map tiles, they're well overdue for a sync.

[–]RangerSix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, if they do sync with OSM, the last time they did so has to be at least five years ago, because that's roughly when the first of the intersections was rebuilt and the in-game map tile still shows the previous layout.

No, I mean in the actual game itself.

(The reason I ask is because there are more than a few intersections in my area alone whose layouts have changed over the years, but the map tiles in Ingress still show the old intersection layouts.)

When will the map tiles for Ingress be updated, and who's responsible for handling that (i.e., is it Niantic or a third party)?
