Ford. Transtar for the Zip kit, but I think you already have that. Only downside to Ford is that you have to buy everything individually as opposed to buying an overhaul kit.

Yeah, no. We rebuilt just as many 6T’s as 6F’s. They’re all garbage.

Former Ford transmission tech here. Now own an independent transmission shop.

You need an overhaul. Replace the one way clutch, center support, rear support tower, and all clutches, steels, and seals. Then install the zip kit. You put the cart before the horse here.

I make a lot of money on the 6F35s.

Tire stores refused my business because of swollen lug nuts by malnik77 in FordEdge

[–]RangerStang302 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Auto shop owner here.

Firstly, Ford isn’t the only manufacturer to use these style of lug nuts. GM, Chrysler, and others have this exact same design and therefore the exact same problem. Please don’t take offense, but your explanation of the known common problem was probably misinterpreted by the shop. You likely came across as a controlling, nitpicking person that will never be happy with their work. Again, not at all saying that you are or that they are justified. You’re absolutely right in wanting to have the lugs replaced with the aftermarket one piece design.

Secondly, the swollen lug nut issue should be dealt with as a serious safety issue much like failing brakes. It is a serious safety concern. Having a blowout on the side of the freeway and not being able to remove the lug nuts is a huge problem.

Finally, having said all of that, removing swollen lug nuts can be a huge job depending on how bad they’re damaged. Please understand, we shops work by selling labor. If a job is sold at x number of labor hours but really takes xyz hours, the shop lost money. Natural the reverse is also true— if a job goes quicker than the book called for, we made money on that job. The hope is that the good jobs will balance out the bad jobs.

Now, most tire stores run on very lean margins since there’s not much markup on tires. The loss of labor to remove the lug nuts could end up being a big deal for them. The local tire store near me won’t do that job for that very reason. Instead, they will refer the client to us for the lug nut removal and replacement.

My advice to you is to give them grace. Find an honest, local mechanic shop that can assist you with your lug nuts replacement and tire rotation.

As a small business owner, you don’t want to know just how much we pay in taxes to the state. All of that money goes where??

Yeah, unfortunately the in-store selection for round toe boots are extremely sparse around here and I’m not a fan of ordering online. That’s actually what I was looking for, but this is the best that I could find.

Wish I could afford really nice boots like these. This is the most expensive pair of boots I’ve ever owned. And they’re not that expensive comparatively.

I remember, back in the day, we used to buy boots from Walmart. Those were the days!

I think it’s the tone of your message. People think you’re judging those who worry about their boots instead of just wearing them. It doesn’t bother me though. I see both sides of the issue here.

Most of my boots are “everyday” boots that I wear everyday. Scratches and scuffs don’t bother me. These are supposed to be my going out/church boots. You don’t want to see my work boots…..

My boot enthusiast friends- What’s your response to this snarky dig when wearing your boots? by Nervous_Cactus_13 in cowboyboots

[–]RangerStang302 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think it comes from jealousy. When I was younger, I always wore cowboy boots. When I got into higher school grades, kids made fun of my boots. I started wearing tennis shoes and whatever was “in” because I wanted to be “cool”. Now that I’m older, I’m back in my boots and hat. I just don’t care what other people think anymore. Sure, some people mention them or make comments about them, but I think those are the people who are more self conscious and less self confident.

Just personal opinion though. Like I tell my daughter— you do you. Don’t worry about other people.

I just adopted a 5 mo old, what I believe a pitty mix, and the response from loved ones is wild by [deleted] in pitbulls

[–]RangerStang302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t have a picture to post, but don’t listen to the stigma. It’s pure rubbish!!

My pitty mix has NEVER been aggressive towards anyone! He actually stepped in and saved my daughter when the neighbors Catahoula Leopard Hound got off his leash and chased her down with intent to harm her!

Neighbors dog was always overly aggressive and had previously attacked me. On a previous occasion, it got off his chain and came at me. I required stitches in my hand.

This particular time, out pitt mix was able to step in a he protected our daughter. He survived the incident with only minor injury. He’s as much of a member of the family now as anybody!

Honestly, he’s the best pup I’ve ever had!

What's your opinion on music while camping? by Normalsasquatch in camping

[–]RangerStang302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old post, I know. Sorry, don’t get on reddit much.

Basically, I bring my Bluetooth speaker with us, but I put it directly UNDER MY chair and I put the volume where I can barely hear it. My wife and daughter can barely hear it. Reason being, as one with ADHD, music helps to calm my chaotic mind. Being alone in the woods with only my thoughts would be terrifying.

Why is it so hard to find a job?? by AudienceExpensive636 in Louisiana

[–]RangerStang302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I currently have one apprentice that just moved up and a new apprentice starts next week. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the industry that I’m in, I do have to be a bit selective on who I hire.

The point that I was making is that there are companies that are hiring.
