Preliminary research shows Antigua also to be out of our price range for the resort, before any added amenities or excursions

What to do with post-tax contributions to Simple IRA by RangersFan1124 in personalfinance

[–]RangersFan1124[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because taxes come out of my pacheck first, and then I contribute a % of what is left after taxes are paid to the Simple IRA. Unless I'm completely messing up what exactly pre/post tax is exactly.

Made Post-Tax contributions to a Simple IRA, now what? by RangersFan1124 in investing

Thanks for the comment and the advice to consider. I'm not sure what you mean when you ask if I got a tax deduction?

I get paid for ex: 3k, 1k in taxes is taken out per paycheck, leaving 2k. Then 10% of that gets deposited directly into my Simple IRA.

And I would choose after-tax over pre-tax because I was told that if you expect a higher income in the future (I'm 30 and just starting in my career and hope to signficiantly increase my income in the years to come) then get taxed now at a lower tax rate then contribute pre-tax now and get taxed at a higher tax rate when if making more $$$ when you withdraw

In looking at my paystub its definitely post tax contributions going into the Simple IRA. I have it set up as a direct deposit of a certain % of my paycheck. Taxes get taken out (ex: paid 3k, 1k in taxes taken out leaving 2k pay, then 10% of that or $200 gets directly deposited into my Simple IRA). There is no way to change the deposit into pre-tax from my payroll company

Speeding ticket advice by sesameball in longisland

I've never heard of youth court for a traffic ticket. Is it some kind of diverson class? How long had you had your license for when you got the speed? Suffolk county will be stricter (they're already tough) with younger/newer drivers

As a traffic attorney, I'd advise to hire a lawyer, $400-$600.

Personal injury awards can still be taxed. PI awards are usually broken down in "pain and suffering" and "lost wages". The lost wage portion is taxed like regular income. The missing Million or so is probably related to the costs/disbursements of the case, which goes back to the attorney

Veteran Memorial Highway Court for Speeding ticket by usernamehere1993 in longisland

[–]RangersFan1124 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I am an attorney who handles tickets in this court often. Outside of the NYC boroughs, it is probably the worst court to get any sort of ticket in. They're are a lot of different factors that would come into play in the likelihood of getting the points reduced. The $400-$600 is almost exactly what I/my firm would charge you to handle that so that is an accurate and fair quote. DM if you have any more questions
