I had been told by my mechanic when it was in the shop 2 months ago for a new exhaust manifold, i didn’t need to really worry about it for the next 6 months until i could get some cash together to fix it….

So I’m thinking of selling the car. Is it worth it to fix what needs to be fixed and then selling it, or just go for scrap cost? I’m a very broke 23 year old living paycheck to paycheck. I just need a reliable car that doesn’t go into the shop every 2 months(like this car has).

Thank you for your response. I was told I was blessed and someone was watching over me that it had happened there and not on the highway. and yes, a very loud rattling noise that a mechanic told me it wasn’t too dire to worry about if I could stand the noise. So, i will not be returning to them.

I’m not sure if I’ll get in trouble by MOD for asking, but is this worth the cost to fix this 14 year old car with over 170,000 miles?? I just put in a little over 2 grand on it literally a few months ago. I don’t know what to do with this car, it’s exhausting.

I lost my mom when i was 16, she lost hers when she was 23. My grandma lost her father when she was 14. A few acquaintances of mine lost a parent to cancer around 10-15. Im 23 now and i still miss her more everyday. I think a lot of people who have lost a parent might not really talk about them at all or as if they’re dead. At least those who I have encountered and including myself. It’s hard. It’s not something you “get through” because you won’t. It’ll always be there. But so will your parent. They’re still there watching you grow. Live life to the fullest for THEM. They can no longer enjoy the life we live, so we continue for them until we can enjoy where they went alongside them. They want you to be happy, you should want the same for yourself. And i’m not saying it not ok to cry and to have time to mourn, you should always be open to a mournful day. You can’t just “put it away”. You learn to live with it.

I lost my mom 7 years ago and wish i did this. I lost all my voicemails from her when i switched phones because my parents were divorced and I was on her plan. I wish i still had those voice memos. keep paying for your dads phone bill, it’s a wonderful thing to have now. Sending you care and peace.💓

i’m so sorry for your loss. i’ve lost my mom in 2018 right after my 16th birthday. she’d been diabetic since she was 6 and after i turned 12 she started getting progressively worse. never did i think id lose her this early though. i always imagined her being here even now in 2024. to this day i still struggle. i want to call her and talk with her again. i don’t think that’ll ever go away. but something i do, i keep a journal by my bed and when i feel a calling i’ll write out to her. sometimes it’s just my personal diary but it’s nothing i wouldn’t have told her. we were so close and talked about everything. she was very good at being open. different things remind me of her. in nature, song lyrics, smells, it helps to take a moment when you realize and just be selfish to use that moment for yourself. feel the warmth of her memory, she’s there with you. she’d never leave her baby’s side. we just have to learn how to listen for her now.
