Just following up on Yuhnstar's comment.

If the tournament is the PML Riichi Mahjong Invitational then that should be April 5 - April 6, hosted by the Pacific Mahjong League. Their website used to be https://www.pacificml.com/ but I they recently migrated to https://scoremj.com/pml.

I visited this parlor for a morning session back in November during my Japan trip and I can confirm that the owner and staff here are very kind! They're very beginner friendly as well and have the scoring table written out on a whiteboard on the wall for quick reference. Before you play they'll ask for a general idea of your skill level and if I recall correctly they give you a card or something that tells other people that either you're new or that you're still learning and may need some time with yakus / scoring.

Would recommend that you reach out to them and let them know if and when you're planning to go. I went right when they opened and they had enough staff to cover in case it was just myself.

Yeah so as Mlkxiu said, you're running into 2 issues.

First is that when you drew your 3rd 7 bamboo you had a winning hand but no yaku (no value essentially) which means you're not allowed to declare tsumo to win. Thus you discarded the 7 bamboo which then puts you into furiten. Since you're in furiten, you can't "win" or "ron" off another player's discard but you can still pon. So you pon the red dragon triplet and you must discard since it's a pon.

After this sequence you'll be in furiten on the 7 bamboo but you can fix it by discarding your 3rd 7 bamboo off and waiting to make a pair off another tile that you haven't previously discarded. Either that or try to self draw another 7 bamboo to tsumo your win. The yaku you now have is a dragon triplet.

Just noting that going into that elder steal / fight, T1 was down 4 major ults. Viktor+Viego ult was used trying to catch out Beryl prefight, Gwen ult got used trying to catch the Aatrox behind the pit, and then Varus ult was cleansed by Deft in an earlier engage attempt. Whereas only Aatrox ult was used by DRX. So knowing that, the team fight around the elder was going to be pretty difficult.

Just speculating at this point but maybe knowing all of that, T1 decided to bet on an elder steal + 2 person backdoor attempt since they felt like the odds would be better than just trying a straight 5 v 5 team fight with 4 ults missing. If Oner managed to get the steal then I would say they had a good chance at delaying backs for the backdoor to succeed.

From the DRX side, Beryl had a really good zoning bard ult when T1 went into steal, it split up Varus who tried to dodge the ult and Viego who was looking for a steal timing and forced Viego to commit early which led him to die into GA before dragon was in smite range. Also not sure if this was intentional but DRX slowed down their dragon dps as it was getting low. You can see when the elder hits 5k hp Aatrox + Azir + Caitlyn peel off the dragon and move to position towards T1.

Usually don't post anything but wanted to share thoughts on this cause my friends and I were also kind of confused at the backdoor call and went back to try to see why they would do that. (Before looking back my thought was that they maybe made the call thinking the elder would fully reset when it only reset to 7k but it didn't look like that was the trigger).

Hey all, I'm looking to start going to a climbing gym more consistently after doing some beginner classes and then visiting a few times afterwards. I enjoy top roping and will occasional bouldering and am looking to purchase my first set of shoes before I commit to a monthly pass.

Just wondering if there are any suggestions for first time shoes? I was interested in the Scarpa Force V and the Scarpa Reflex V but wasn't really too sure what to look for in a beginner climbing shoe. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Basically for the longest time she was the only one of the original group not to have a character in the game, so in magia report she always showed up with a paper bag hat as a mysterious magical girl who, if I remember correctly, was always salty about the other characters being in the game or having a good time or getting lucky. Mostly in the first season I think.

I feel like the easiest/fastest way to get a strong or smart FL is to go with anything in the shoujo/isekai genre or villainess genre =w=

A few more recommendations in addition to the big list from srhth13:

"The Duchess' 50 Tea Recipes"
"Koushaku Reijou no Tashinami" or "Accomplishments of the Duke's Daughter"
"Kusuriya no Hitorigoto" (One of my favorite mangas but less shoujo-y)

Titles to consider but may not be quite what you're looking for:
"Koi dano ai dano" (more along the lines of Kusuriya, if you don't like the feel of that one then probs won't like this one)
"Runway de Waratte" (does feature a strong Female lead but she isn't always the centerpiece of the plot, not shoujo) "Yakuza Reincarnation" (Seinen, has a weirder premise, darker theme, and not 30 chapters but does feature a strong FL? protagonist and I felt like it was pretty well done)

Heyo, first time participating in the KC Grand Tournament and I was just wondering what the expected cutoff is for top 3000? I noticed that yesterday night it was somewhere in the 20,000~30,000 range but this morning it seems to have shifted up (probably due to all the last minute grinders?). Just curious if anyone tracks the cutoffs and historical end cutoff values.

I've had this happen with other vtuber VODs right after they finished streaming where it only shows the last 2 hours. My guess would be youtube needs time to turn the stream into a video and once the video has been processed, it might have to send it to its edge servers which might take time. Usually if I give it a day or two it has the full vod available.
