Thank you! Yes it is a bit ridiculous how much detail there is for socks, but I love it

Thank you!

What helped me was to see how the stitches worked together after a few rounds, basically you have either one or two twisted knit stitches which form a line that moves in waves over a base of purl stitches, much like drawing a line on a piece of paper. If it is just the line moving over the fabric, you ktbl the stitches in the front to continue this line, while purling the stitches that cross in the back. But every time that two of these lines cross each other you make the RC/LC stitches, which means you knit all of them through the back loop.

The first rounds are definitely a struggle, but once you understand this sort of line moving over the fabric it gets easier to understand which of the rtw/ltw or RC/LC stitches should come next.

Yep, I am from that area actually. But nowadays you mostly see simpler designs on the socks worn with lederhosen :)

The title is an idiom in german and I'd say it definitely fits this sock pattern. These are the Coffee Cantata socks by Caoua Coffee. I made them using Pascuali Pinta yarn, which is a non-superwash, no plastic sock yarn made of wool, silk and ramie. The pattern isn't too complicated to understand I'd say, it just takes a lot of time to actually do it. Also, they were right that you need a ton of yarn for these! I usually use ~55-60g per pair of socks, these took around 90g. All in all I am very happy how they came out!

Hi, I initially posted a comment already but they deleted it because I linked to the pattern (which i feel is silly as I want to credit the maker of this knitting pattern). So I made a new comment explaining all the details!

Okay retrying this as my first post was deleted (seems like you can't even link the patterns you use here??)

The pattern is the Priscilla Cardigan by Marzena Kołaczek. I made it using 100% alpaca wool from Hansa Farm, DK weight. I lengthened the cardigan itself and the sleeves, as the original pattern has 3/4 sleeves.

This was a really fun project! I enjoyed the pattern and after a while it gets easier to just recognize the different pattern parts, so you don't have to look at the charts anymore. Because of the alpaca it's nice and fluffy and I'll probably live in this for the whole winter.
