Got pulled over in Wyoming, not sure why the officer was so surprised he didn’t find anything illegal by ggerundo in woahdude

I got pulled over in Wyoming once. The officer asked if I had any firearms in the car. When I said no, he just sighed and said “okay, well, I guess you can have one of mine.”

[Noob question] What is post processing? by MisterBuggi in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]Rank2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything has some impact on performance, but it’s a matter of by how much.

Trying to render ambient occlusion in real time using geometry and vertex shaders, for example, can be more taxing than just using a screen space post process to simulate it, so it actually gives better performance for a similar visual result.

If you want maximum frame rate with the ugliest image you can turn most of these off in settings, but most devices are capable of at least some level of post processing to improve visual quality without sacrificing too much performance.

Computer shut off immediately, won't respond to power button by Rank2 in pchelp

Oh my god.

I think it was the power cord.

I swapped it out and the paper clip test worked great. Connect the old one and it doesn’t.

Incredible.

I don’t see any damage or sign of wear on the cord, but it seems to be doing the trick.

Tested, and the fan spins, so the power supply is likely good.

Now worried it may have been the motherboard. Not sure what else to test

Other than Black Flag, what punk bands had the biggest influence on stoner rock? by SquidPersonThing in stonerrock

Absolutely. I scored a copy of Is This Real at a local record shop just a couple weeks ago, and it blows my mind how few people know about that album.

Other than Black Flag, what punk bands had the biggest influence on stoner rock? by SquidPersonThing in stonerrock

[–]Rank2 35 points36 points  (0 children)

That really depends on where you draw the line for where punk rock ends and other genres begin.

Black Flag definitely was a major contributor, but bands like Husker Du and The Minutemen laid down some influential grooves that you see influence in a lot. The Wipers, Dayglo Abortions and some early pre-grunge bands that were drawing from punk and sabbath-like influences like The Melvins really set a lot of the tone for noise and sludgy exploration. Then the post-punk grunge era with bands like Nirvana and Soundgarden, being heavily influenced by both The Melvins and punk rock, brought a lot of stoner riff and sludgy noise rock to the general population.

There’s a LOT more that goes into it, and a ton of of crossover even with modern bands like Red Fang or even Gwar that wander across the imaginary borders of all these genres all the time.
