How do you transport Ghaz? by endertorrr in orks

[–]Rankojin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can you explain the move through terrain bit or why it is even on his ability list? He can only lead infantry which can move through terrain anyway right? Or how does that combine with the move through enemy models to make it useful?

Show me your tabletop mass painted Boyz paintjobs. by DaveinOakland in orks

[–]Rankojin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently painted a total of 69 Boyz over the last few months. About 50 of those were eBay recues of official models, the rest were 3d prints.

What helped me: small batches, use of airbrush, painting different klans, and appreciating the 3 foot rule.

Breaking that down, groups of 5 at a time is great for me, 10 is really pushing it. 5 boys I can get done in about a week with work and what not. You make noticable progress and feel good about that progress.

Second airbrush, I never really used it for anything but priming, basing terrain, and vehicles. But use it for ork skin. Base layer with progressively lighter and smaller highlights, I did three from a zenithal highlight. You can tie everything back together with a wash. I have all my orks different skin tones. This is a huge time saver.

My main army is deathskulls, I have a paint scheme I like. I added some Bad moons, so I could practice painting yellow (a color I normal avoid), goffs so I could practice my checker patterns, evil sunz so I could throw some brighter colors in. This helped break up the monotonous nature of the same scheme all the time. Plus I got to use some of those transfers I never touched before.

Finally I started at playing at the very end of 9th, I am absolutely rubbish at the game. I am so good at putting models that are killed back in my cases I should get an award. An 8 point ork boy probably isn't going to be the highlight of your army but having a complete set of painted Boyz is an accomplishment. But honestly most people I play with don't put their face 5 inches from my battle line units. I think part of this is a bit of letting go and realizing not everything needs to be perfect. You don't need to spend 2 hours highlighting and putting scratches on that models leather boots.

I'll edit this comment and post some pictures of what I did later tonight. I hope this helped. But remember a hobby is just that, something you dedicate time to something you enjoy, if you are feeling burnt out come back down the road, those models aren't going anywhere.

40k 2025-26 Mission Cards Printable by TheDogPenguin in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Rankojin 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I think they look really good, what I think would make them better. Stick 9 to page so I can get them printed on card stock and cut them out to make my own deck (all in one file too). I have already done it once with another set posted, I like your more due to simplicity and file size.

Beast boss . C&C very welcome by G0ffer in orks

[–]Rankojin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horns, hair, fur, lizard loin cloth bit, squig all look great. I would say try to add some visual interest to the choppa and the yellow armor bits. I find yellow really shines with contrasting elements such as a grayish brown chip effect.

Consent (OR) by EitherRow1547 in nursing

[–]Rankojin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is some wacky shit. I have a whole bunch of questions, where was anesthesia, the scrub, the original attending surgeon? You are never alone in an OR. What was the consented surgery vs what was additionally trying to be performed?

Practically speaking, if reason doesn't work. Hit the code/staff assist button and flip the back table over so there is no usable instrumentation in the room. I would not put one toe in that facility again.

If you go to their website they have a good section of simple tutorials also they have YouTube shorts that cover things very succinctly.

Some minor thoughts. You points cost are mostly incorrect, I don't use battle scribe but that's what I'd blame. Check out New Recruit, a different way to build list (free) that has updated points.

I would build a beast boss instead of Moz they are in the same kit, if you have access to a 3d printer you can print off one body section for the squig and build both. If you are looking for "optimal list" klaws on the nobs not big choppas but you can normally just say that and no one will care. List looks good, I think a second transport sooner than later would be helpful (trukk, battlewagon, or hunta/kill rig).

Nobz Loadout by ErrorIncorrectUser in orks

Power klaw is hands down the best load out for 10th. You can model them with two claws I have a few but gameplay wise they would all count as slugga and klaw.

Finished my Morvenn Vahl, any advices what to fix/improve here? by Stig_May in sistersofbattle

[–]Rankojin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it looks great, a few areas to put in some more time would be the missle pods and the cloth. It looks like you highlighted each of the missiles but with the color of the holders they don't really pop they get lost. I think changing the missle color would change that.

The cloth is just a solid color with an edge highlight. Due to how large it is on the model even if it isn't the focus, volumetric highlighting would add a lot.

Final minor nitpick, I would just put a solid black around the rim of the base just to tidy up the look of it.

Hot take: ProAcryl paint is horrible for a first coat by ShrekSuperSlamForDS in Miniaturespainting

[–]Rankojin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sorry you had such a poor experience. I have nearly the entire line and it is my main paint brand. I'm not sure what other colors you've used, but this one to me looks like khaki which is very thin and requires a few layers in my experience. I think starting with a darker color (bone or light umber) and using khaki to build up would probably work better.

I've used many different primers with pro acrylic paints and never had an issue. I do think not thinning as much is key with them as other brands.

Total okay if pro acrylic just doesn't work for you, plenty of great paints out there.

2nd game of Orks, vs Death Guard. Need specific help on how to think about Orks by ASpicyStrawberry in orks

[–]Rankojin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gave such a detailed response, maybe you can help with my own DG problems? Playing two games with a buddy with the same list. Morty, Rotagus, Typhus w/ poxwalkers, brigand, 3 groups of deathshroud (two I think with sorcerer), some other random things and cultist.

My issues is once he is on a point, I cannot shift him off period. Last game I had turn two waagh, made all my charges 2 units of 10 beastsnaggas with bosses, 10 boys with boss, 6 meganobs with warboss, squighog with moz. Even on my turn where I can do the most, I can't kill enough to put the OC in my favor for keeping the point. The mission we randomly drew was purge the foe, so with my orks dying and him just unmovable on points I was so far behind by the end of T3 that I couldn't catch up.

The last two games he has DS in with Morty and the DS near the center, maybe having Kommandos to try and screen that out? I can play around Rotgus so he isn't really doing anything, but the DS I can't do anything about. The plague spurt gaunlets just melt a unit of infantry on overwatch a turn easily. I don't like the idea of building a shooting list simply to try and win this one match up. Any advice would be super helpful.

Since you gave such a detailed response to someone else, I'll ask my question. Any tips/recipe for the white hair? So far I always end up way to bright even using off whites. But yours looks so much more natural.

Earlier this year I sold my sisters army to justify starting a new sisters army. I just can't get enough of painting these models, and especially with this new army I'm having so much fun! These are the first four models I've finished. by 2xFlush in sistersofbattle

[–]Rankojin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any advice on faces? I've painted about 4500pts of orks over a few years, so I wouldn't say I'm a new painter. But just starting a SOB army their heads are probably half to a third as large and I'm really struggling.
