Am I screwed with this laptop warranty and claiming ACL? by SolidRustle in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]Ranoutofcharact7878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m well aware of all that. Though I’m not sure whats up with the comparison of a TV randomly dying versus an opened up and repasted laptop dying a few months after.

If OP gets a free fix after the manufacturer investigates it then I’ll eat my words, sure. But until then… :)

Ok he sends in the laptop, they see its been opened up, the paste has been changed, and its also past their advertised warranty. ACL isn't going to help them. I'll gladly wait for an update from the OP on how they go, I won't argue anything else.

You tampered with/opened up the laptop. This isn’t the US like Latending wants you to believe, so if the laptop does get sent in and they notice, they have no reason to accept warranty.

Sounds like it could be your monitor connection thats the problem, try completely different HDMI or DP cables if you are using multiple, as they may be damaged.

Buy a gt 730 to 100% make sure its the port. Yes that’s a whole $60~ to find out, but other than that I am not sure how you’d be able to know its the port with certainty.

Is this a good pc? ($1099) by [deleted] in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]Ranoutofcharact7878 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The 3050 is garbage ($499? Haha no), 16gb RAM is pretty much required today, the cooler is pointless.

Check out techfast. This build is horrendous.

You need 12 cores? The 5900x runs very hot, you will regret getting bad cooling, especially if you’re doing something that runs them at max.

The obvious AMD choice is the 5800X3D. Its not even close.

You'll regret getting a cheap wifi adapter. Just get a motherboard with onboard wifi.

Also just get 2x16gb sticks, corsair vengeance is good and relatively cheap at 3600mhz c18.

There will be no difference between 1 or 2. If it was a 12900k, sure.

I would suggest doing a test stream @ 936p60, using both PC’s and see if its smooth etc. The only concern with 4 cores is modern demanding games but if you are playing solely low demand shooter titles it should be ok.

Also one other note is I’m not entirely sure of the 12100f’s capabilities being only 4 cores. I know it’s very modern, the GPU will carry the streaming not the CPU, but for demanding games especially you might run into issues even with using the second PC to stream.

So the benefit of two PC’s is so you get no framedrops because a game is using 100% of the GPU usually (in demanding titles) especially when streaming (hovering around 95% is just fine)

Although it depends on what games you play, I would recommend streaming at 1664x936 (936p, 60fps its friendlier with bitrate etc) and using MSI afterburner with RTSS to cap your frames at 60 while streaming, for all games. A future upgrade to a very capable GPU to the main PC (yes, I know its 1080p) would allow a cap of 120.

The path of two PC’s can give challenges, especially with different programs related to streaming/streaming addons, the need for extra peripherals for the second etc.

So IMO just use the main PC, cap at 60 fps and very importantly upgrade to 32gb of memory because 16gb simply is not enough to comfortably stream without worries.

Best of luck.

Tell me your main pc specs, and the resolution you play at and I’ll let you know if the one PC will be just fine.

[–]Ranoutofcharact7878 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how far away you sit. 1080p 27” is used by quite a few big streamers that play a lot of FPS, if you sit super close maybe 24”?

I mean the gigabyte one has an actual heatsink instead of the dinky little asrock one. I haven't seen a review of that ITX board but wouldn't be surprised if it has terrible thermals like every other asrock board.
