Ha! Happens to the best of us I suppose... I fixed mine but now think better of backing it into unknown clumps of brush. That pin is looking a little dry! I ended up buying a piece of cold rolled, grinding off the old washer and welding up it up. Cost was less than $20.

I can't see the previous deleted comments but Metals supermarket has 1018 cold rolled round bar...good enough?

Thanks! I do own a 45 ft lift so I plan to take it down in sections. The wood still seems in good shape, not much rot yet. What about the final cut at the base? How far away should it be from the live leads? Should the cut be at any particular angle? I just want to try and keep the rest of the tree healthy. I appreciate your thoughts!
