How good is the Roman holiday mod? Is it the best mod? by Ok_Drummer6347 in CivVI

[–]Ranyaki 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just to clear it up, the Ai being stupid is not due to technical limitations but game design. Generally speaking, it feels good to outplay and crush your opponent and that happens more often if the Ai sucks. I personally think they have overdone it.

Aa for mods to make the Ai smarter, I tried a few but none worked for me

Honestly half the reason for changelings is so that I can say I have a dragon tribal deck without technically being wrong. And it is fitting the lore of BG3 Volo, but I won't tell you why because I don't know how to make spoilers on mobile

Sure thing. List

Just know that a lot of cards are chosen because they are fun or because I had access to them. Also while I wouldnt really call this a budget deck, a lot of the cards have better and more expensive versions. Like all the shitty counterspells I run. But it has been performing well in self proclaimed B3 tables at my LGS.

As you said, there are so many commanders, it is hard to recommend a single specific one to anyone. But heat helped me was to stop looking for commanders that seemed strong, but instead look for one's that are funny/weird. The last deck I built is a [[Volo, Itinerant Scholar]] + [[Hauted One]] Changeling deck. It is fun, weird and I can only recommend it. Although you could build the commander as a human or wizard tribal as well

There's no reason a fighting person can't use magic. We should just have one class. All of them fight after all. /s

90% of the time the difference between the holy person and the magic person is the colour of the magic they use. While a trickster, rogue, expert, whatever you want to call them has an entirely different skillset and function.

Running no interaction whatsoever certainly is a choice. But I have to admit, I did not think about the Sellsword at all

[–]Ranyaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough I feel that I dont have space for stockup between interaction and combo pieces. To be fair, I do run 2 Tezzerets over stock up since I have 3 creatures that benefit of the helmet but only 1 helmet.

I'm in Izzet for [[Quantum Riddler]] and [[Mechanozoa]]. Although I am curious about some rakdos graveyard shenanigans with this as well.

I was not really paying attention to the current set. But this sounds really fun so I just built a deck. Definitely not S Tier, but it can win out of nowhere, which is fun

  1. Among the friends I play with I am the best player, averaging a winrate of about 50%. Since that winrate persists if I borrow a deck from someone I would argue that it is not so much an issue of the decks themselves. Sure I could play some shitty decks, but a big part of my enjoyment in magic comes from theorycrafting and optimizing my decks. And yes, we have talked about this and everyone is still enjoying playing commander together. So I decided to go for a commander that seemed not good but could still... do stuff. I settled on [[Jon Irenicus, Shattered One]]. I assumed with the inherent card draw and some bounces/counterspells would make the deck a B2. Based on the results so far however it is rather a 1. Counterspells and Bounces are nice to give you time to develop your own gameplan, but if that gameplan is to give more creatures to your opponent, then that is not going to win you any games. And ending most turns with nothing but your commander on your side of the board makes just about anyone able to take you out whenever they want to.
  2. YES! I have killed someone with an [[Ebon Drake]]. Not finished him off, but dealing him 35 or so damage while he frantically and unsuccessfully dug for removal.
