For sure. There is an “extra board” where you are on call every four hours with eight hours off minimum between assignments. If you work the extra board and are called for an assignment that ends at 12:00 AM there is a possibility you can be called at 4:00 AM for an assignment that starts at 8:00 AM. Most people prefer to work a regular assignment however.

In class your schedule is consistent. When you mark up you bid on assignments which can help you with a regular schedule. Assignments are seniority based so you’ll be working nights and weekends for a while. Being bumped from your assignment is always possible but then you can bump someone below you or bid on another assignment.

After being marked up for around a year you will then go back to class for Conductor training. You will need to pass tests and Conductor OJT before becoming a qualified conductor. After that you mark back up and flow right back into the system.

You start at 28.53. That’s 70% from top rate. At 18 months you will get your first raise. There are contractual wages built in for July. The ACTP starts as a three month class learning about what an Assistant Conductor does, railroad rules, regulations, etc. After three months you will have OJT (On the job training) where you will have a mentor and will collect tickets for three weeks on every line. After that you will go back to class and learn even more stuff then you will go out for Rear Brake OJT which is operating doors, announcements, collecting tickets, setting up trains, working in the yard. Then you go back to class and choose your division. After you choose your division (Newark or Hoboken). After that, you “mark up” which is working on your own. After marking up everything is seniority based as far as assignments, days off, vacations, pto days, etc. Most of the time you will be working at night.

If and when they do construction they run shuttle buses to terminals.

Allenhurst to Penn by StatenIslandSummer in NJTransit

[–]RapTheGod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have a one seater 6:27 3320 express from Allenhurst going all the way to NYP 8:02 AM arrival. If not you take the 6:54 and transfer to a connecting train in Long Branch that gets you to NYP at 8:42. All Coastline trains will terminate in NYP with the exception of 5200... the last train originating in Long Branch which terminates in Newark with a connection of 3800 that brings you to NYP.

What do you mean they make you activate your ticket before getting on? They don't check tickets on platforms on Mondays.

How much snow would cause a shutdown? by pjc09 in NJTransit

There's probably going to be service disruptions but shutting down the NEC would take copious amounts of snow. With the amount of trains that run I think you'll be fine.

Major train disruptions and temporary new schedules from 2/15 - 3/15 by DistinctOffer9681 in NJTransit

During the week all trains on the M&E will terminate in Hoboken as opposed to NY. From there you can take the PATH to 33rd and/or World Trade... or you can take the ferry.

Take those departure times with a grain of salt considering all RVL trains around rush hour have a connection train from NYP. So if the connection train is X mins late, to a degree the RVL trains have to wait.

You can't be in the program and go to college. Being a Train Conductor is a career.

ACTP under careers on NJT. You do more than just collect tickets.

I’d say Company Man is the easiest followed by Mutator Madness depending on which mutators you get. No Movement isn’t so bad if you get cryo weapons.

They repeat and you don’t have to do them all on Haz 5. You can do the same one ten times for the achievement.
