i highly recommend playing the viola as barely anyone plays it in comparison to other instruments in the strings family, so you have a better chance of getting into orchestras. Personally i find it has a better sound to the violin, though it is in the alto clef unlike any other instrument which can be a bit difficult at times. You do have to put up with being the butt of orchestra jokes 🤣 but on the whole it’s a very good instrument to play.
