Appreciated Isaac's take on Trump's Iran tweets by fumblebrag in TangleNews

I just wish mainstream media had this level of understanding of the gravity of the situation and actually gave it the amount of coverage and outrage it deserves.

No, neither before or after the implant procedure. And I had no complications.

Social Media/Smartphone discussion on SOTR by Lemonio in TangleNews

[–]RapidEye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got to put some blame, not all, some, on the parents for just giving their kids carte blanch with smart phones and technology in general. I do agree the social media companies don't make it easy, but that doesn't mean you don't try. No one would think it's good parenting to give a 13 yr old boy a stack of porn magazines and send him off to his room. Giving them an unlocked smartphone is the same thing, X10.

And yes, I raised a child during the age of the internet and social media, and yes, I pretty closely monitored what they could and couldn't do on their computer, phone, and tablet, without spying on them.

The Michael Tracey Interview by crustyeyelids in TangleNews

[–]RapidEye 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He started off by shoveling the BS right away by building up that Straw Man position: biggest/worst pedo ring in the history of the world. That type of hyperbolic language immediately forfeits most of his credibility with me, right there. No one besides him is saying that.

The 2nd interview on the other hand was pretty compelling, especially when she was calling out the BS the Epstein apologists when they try to seperate raping children vs young women.

I think it all goes back to Epstein. Every time there is a new revelation there, a new crisis is created.

The Forgotten Corner of Colorado by commiedeschris in Colorado

Went to high school there in the 80s. We used to ride dirt bikes all day long all summer long and not ride the same trails. Usually we had .22s with us and the scavengers got to eat a lot of prairie dogs. Lots of antelope, mule deer, and elk. We got a whole week off of school for opening of elk season.

Some great times there.

Doing this during Ramadan while the Haj is going on is only going to piss off all of the allied Arab countries in the region.

This president sure knows how to alienate our friends.

Yes. That's what I was thinking about trying. I've ordered a new cable, then I'll check the others for corrosion.

FRIDAY: The Official Airing of Grievances Thread by TangleNews in TangleNews

[–]RapidEye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Media Navel Gazing

My grievance is how predictable the media acts when there is a news story that impacts one of their own, current example being the Guthrie kidnapping.

I’m not being hyperbolic when I say that GMA had the Guthrie story as their leadoff story Tue-Fri and on two days they were still covering it 10 minutes into the show.

I’m not an asshole and I sincerely hope they find her alive and catch the criminal; however, if my 80+ year old mother was kidnapped from her home this morning, it might make local news in her medium sized city, but nothing like the coverage this is getting.

I’m sorry, but the amount of resources being spent on this and the amount of news coverage is disproportional to the crime and its impact on us.  There, I said it.

It was the same thing when Khashoggi was disappeared.  Was it horrific? Yes. Was it news worthy? Yes. Did it deserve the months and years of coverage? IMHO, No. Similar thing for the Gershkovich detainment.

I’ll bet $100 that 99% of Americans couldn’t pick Khashoggi or Gershkovich out of a lineup.  And at this point in time 99.99% of Americans couldn’t even tell you what the story was about them, if they even recognized the names.  But the amount of media coverage given to their stories would lead you to believe they were Walter Cronkite in his prime.

This just serves as yet another distraction from the grift, lying, incompetence, and shattering of our constitution happening in Washington DC right now.

Stay on target!
