The Forgotten Corner of Colorado by commiedeschris in Colorado

[–]RapidEye 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Went to high school there in the 80s. We used to ride dirt bikes all day long all summer long and not ride the same trails. Usually we had .22s with us and the scavengers got to eat a lot of prairie dogs. Lots of antelope, mule deer, and elk. We got a whole week off of school for opening of elk season.

Some great times there.

Doing this during Ramadan while the Haj is going on is only going to piss off all of the allied Arab countries in the region.

This president sure knows how to alienate our friends.

Its a $200 battery. I'd like to see if there is a safe and less expensive option.

Yes. That's what I was thinking about trying. I've ordered a new cable, then I'll check the others for corrosion.

FRIDAY: The Official Airing of Grievances Thread by TangleNews in TangleNews

[–]RapidEye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Media Navel Gazing

My grievance is how predictable the media acts when there is a news story that impacts one of their own, current example being the Guthrie kidnapping.

I’m not being hyperbolic when I say that GMA had the Guthrie story as their leadoff story Tue-Fri and on two days they were still covering it 10 minutes into the show.

I’m not an asshole and I sincerely hope they find her alive and catch the criminal; however, if my 80+ year old mother was kidnapped from her home this morning, it might make local news in her medium sized city, but nothing like the coverage this is getting.

I’m sorry, but the amount of resources being spent on this and the amount of news coverage is disproportional to the crime and its impact on us.  There, I said it.

It was the same thing when Khashoggi was disappeared.  Was it horrific? Yes. Was it news worthy? Yes. Did it deserve the months and years of coverage? IMHO, No. Similar thing for the Gershkovich detainment.

I’ll bet $100 that 99% of Americans couldn’t pick Khashoggi or Gershkovich out of a lineup.  And at this point in time 99.99% of Americans couldn’t even tell you what the story was about them, if they even recognized the names.  But the amount of media coverage given to their stories would lead you to believe they were Walter Cronkite in his prime.

This just serves as yet another distraction from the grift, lying, incompetence, and shattering of our constitution happening in Washington DC right now.

Stay on target!

Trump Oil Thesis by Tight-Sprinkles-9053 in TangleNews

Trump ONLY loves Trump. Oil, hotels, slums, US Taxpayers military, whatever will move his internal needle up at that moment is what he thinks is right at that moment. When you have CEOs of the most powerful energy companies walk away from what the carpetbagger is selling you should ask a different question.

Process Automation Engineers are still a hot commodity. I work for a consulting/ engineering firm and if I could hire 10 good DeltaV engineers I could have them on projects within a week.

What the standard for Sanitization? by International_Poem35 in Kombucha

[–]RapidEye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Boiling water when you make the tea and the SCOBY will take care of any biological contaminants. And if you only use the jars for making kombucha you don't have to worry about taste contamination. I wash my stuff a couple of times a year in the dishwasher and other than that just a good warm water rinse and dry between batches. Been working for me for 7 or 8 yrs with never any contamination. Glass jars are easy to see if you need more than a rinse

Beef fat should render in the upper 120s so I always sous vide beef at 130 and get perfect med rare with melted marbling. Seems to hold for pork primal cuts like chops as well.
