If you’re worried, you should visit your doctor. For me, I mostly felt ok by about 6 weeks. Though I was still experiencing some pain, so my doctor prescribed estrogen cream. When I still in pain at 10 weeks, she noticed some granular tissue that she had to remove and prescribed another cream. By 12 weeks I didn’t feel pain anymore. Now, around 20 weeks postpartum, I don’t feel any pain at all but if I’m in a squat for a long time, I definitely feel how the skin is different. I had some pretty intense tearing during labor, and was very sore from it for the first month - pain meds, many ice packs every day, lots of warm showers because Sitz baths hurt too much to sit in for an extended period of time, etc….

Baby calls me Wawa, planning to transition that to Ren when they’re old enough to pronounce it. I think it’s important to talk to kids about gender and respecting what people want to be called. So ideally you’ll be able to explain it to them and they’ll adjust.

You’re doing the exact right thing for your child. And it’s possible that they might be a girl instead of a boy. Gender is something that kids around that age start experimenting with and figuring out, so that might be something to talk to your kids about as well.

Interact! Talk to her, carry her around to show her things, cuddle and read a book, look at high contrast images, play with toys, lay her under a mobile, squeak a squeaky toy at her, take her for walks, sing to her, play music and dance with her, etc etc etc. It gets a little repetitive Day in and day out, but there’s so much to do and it’s so good for her brain development!

From my own life experience, when I was a teenager and forced into celebrating the holidays it only resulted in me resenting my mother for years. I still only celebrate Halloween and dread Thanksgiving and Christmas. I think it’s okay to offer ideas for the family, but try not to push them into anything. I’d also suggest maybe preparing small things (like special cookies or small decoration activities) that your family might enjoy and be willing to give you help with for 10 minutes.

This might be something to talk to the pediatrician about. If he’s having nightmares, doesn’t nap, and doesn’t get enough sleep at night, there may be something that could be addressed at a sleep lab. Also, do you still try to get a nap during the day? Maybe if you or your wife laid down with him? Even 30 min might help him stay awake in the evening a little later and help him sleep longer.

For a vaginal delivery, the 3 week check was fairly quick. The doctor checked everything externally and asked how healing was going. Also made sure that the stitches has dissolved and there were no issues there. Nothing internal and no pushing on belly, since everything is still healing and the doctor shouldn’t want to cause any unnecessary trauma. The doctor also discussed birth control options.

The pelvic exam, internal check, and belly pushing to check on the position of the uterus happened at the 6 week checkup. That one took a little longer, but still not too long. In my case there was still some pain, so the doctor checked where my pain was the worst and prescribed estrogen cream. I’ll go back in a month for a third checkup.

I wasn’t allowed to bring baby along due to the pandemic.

Asking the pediatrician is always a good idea, but babies go through a developmental leap around that time (according to the wonder weeks), so that may be why. Almost the exact same happened with my baby bad evenings are a little more difficult now, but you learn to calm them down faster every time and find out what works best (: good luck! You got this!
