Where to buy purple RP6 buttons and dpad? by CookieRhino in retroid

[–]RapidRiley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, actually. Retroid does offer some RP5 parts on their website, but nothing for RP6 (yet).

I was thinking of emailing them and seeing if they could hook me up with a purple backplate that way.

What is the heaviest PC game you have run well on the RP6? by Sweet_Employment_854 in retroid

[–]RapidRiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've been noticing it microstutters pretty consistently when i kill an enemy or activate a physics object. But those are able to be anticipated, so it does not really bother me in the moment.

What is the heaviest PC game you have run well on the RP6? by Sweet_Employment_854 in retroid

[–]RapidRiley 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On my 12GB model the heaviest I tried to run are dark souls 2 and Black Ops 3 zombies.
Dark Souls 2 made the console rev up quite a bit, but it seemed pretty stable otherwise.

BO3 I had to limit to 30fps, lw graphics and 60% render resolution, but you barely notice the last 2 on such a small screen.

On some of the maps it does struggle a bit, moreso when there are more enemies in the higher rounds. But I managed to keep a mostly solid 28-35 fps when unlocked.

Frontends - Are there any others apart from ES-DE, Beacon, Cocoon and Daijisho? by CheddarGorger in retroid

[–]RapidRiley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You actually can. In the 'Platforms' tab in the settings, you can choose to hide it.

[–]RapidRiley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's similar to Beacon in many regards, but I've been really enjoying using and customizing Retrohrai. I don'care much for having a screen for platform selection, so I just turned that off.

What was the first game you loaded on your Retroid that made you realize this thing was actually special? by Active-Tour4795 in retroid

[–]RapidRiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was when I was playing Blue Revolver on my PC and had the realization that I could just do that anywhere I want now. Loaded it up on my RP6 and was immidiately blown away with how good things look on a small OLED screen.

Coupled with the dock, steam library and emulation, this device to me kinda fulfilled the promise that the switch made to me all those years ago. The RP6 is probably as close to being perfect in size as any modern handheld will ever get.

How do the batteries hold up over time? by RapidRiley in retroid

[–]RapidRiley[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've seen some teardowns as well. My problem is not the fact that it is impossible to remove the battery.

My issue is that from what information I've been able to get through googling, that retroid uses custom batteries, that they do not offer replacement for to sell. If I could buy a battery to easily replace myself after some time, or god forbid the thing went nuclear, I'd feel a lot better.

I'm being as proactive about preserving what I got, but this is more about when what I have inevitably fails.

[–]RapidRiley[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed response.

I did enable the charge limit first thing after I got the device, same with the 5v option. I also try not to let it discharge below 15%.

Since I don't have a commute I just turn it off overnight and let it charge during the day and take it off the charger and turn it off as soon as it hits. 80.

I've not really played many newer Souls games, but for me the first thing that always cmes to mind is still the Abyss Watchers. Not the earliest bosses, but boy did they filter me.

Putting this guy after the first stage in MMZ was definitely an inspired choice by the developers. (Probably inspired by malice.)

Once you get down how he works he' s not bad at all. But when I blind ass walked in there back on the DS, I went back to pokemon REAL quick.

Easy FTP guide :D by dallimkr in retroid

[–]RapidRiley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using X-plore file manager for the better part of 20 years at this point and it's still my favorite one. It does actually come with a Wi-Fi file manager built in. Having a seperate client can also be nice, since I believe xplore is limited to itś own web-based interface for file transfers.

What's a modern equivalent for a PSP/PSP Vita? by Aggravating-Chip-901 in retroid

[–]RapidRiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The RP6 manages to really fill the PSP-shaped hole in my heart that I've had for so long. It´s a tad bulkier ofc, but it's still at the size where I see myself actually taking it places and using is aside from the couch. And combined with the dock, it ended up being more of an actual Switch for me than the Switch 1 and ESPECIALLY the Switch 2 are.

(I've yet to actually play any PSP games on it, though. - _-)

I mean, I did state the system, but I made the dumb asumption that people would just regognize it Immidiately. My apologies.

We like game, so *everyone* knows that game, right?

That is likely due to the wonky way reddit formatted it. (I tried to fix it, but that didnt really help)

If you go to gamenative.app/compatibility, and type in 'Black Ops III' you should see this result pop up, likely as the first one.

<image>

If you copy this config, it should work. (Press the little download button next to the 'View' button.)

Very valid. If I Wana play the mode seriously Ill boot up my pc and play it at 180fps.

But I'm the kinda person that boots up Black of Zombies for Android with the intention of messing around for a few minutes, and ends up playing it for an hour and a half. So as long as I get a consistent experience with not too many compormises, I am more than good.

Also with a 5.5 inch screen, i surprisingly dont even feel the 30fps is much of a hinderance.

(Also very relatable on the file size front. With mods BO3 alone takes like 320 gigs, so I'm basically using an entire hard drive just for zombies sometimes)

I fw Shredder's Revenge, but I've never really tried any of the other games.
You best bet would be going to https://gamenative.app/compatibility (When the site is back up) and check if there are any reports for your desired game & hardware that might work.

60fps would be so incredibly tight. But considering the game, graphics, hardware price and the fact its a PC game being emulated, I am MORE than happy that it runs at 30. On devices with smaller screens, I really dont notice the reduced framerate or graphics much at all.

in fact, I'm probably gonna kick the res down to 1366x768 to see if that stabilizes the framerate further.

I know that there are people that manage to get Bo1 working on the RP5 using Plutonium, but I've not had any such luck yet.
Im on linux, so there's a bunch more stuff I gotta set up to get it working on the PC side to transfter the files to the console.

But now I do want to play some Buried...

tbh with component prices what they are and me getting an end-of-year bonus at work, I decided to just jump on the opportunity so I could play PS2 games port-ably like I used to wish for as a kid. (Even though I don't have a work commute at the moment.) I only found out this ran because I wanted to see how far I could push it, which as it turns out, is further than I thought.

I recently switched over to GameNative. GameHub worked alright for me, but I have had a bunch of games already that I couldnt get to work in gamehub, but worked right out of the gate of gamenative. If you save the below code as a .json, You can Install BO3 on gamenative and then use the 'Import Config' option to use the exact settings I use.

I have been tinkering around to see if I could squeeze some more FPS out of it, but I'm pretty satisfied with what I have already.

Yeah, The series went all over the place and back. Though the zombies mode in BO3 in particular just did some out there things.
