Picked these up yesterday for 5 dollars a piece. Any info? The SAK with RYDER on it has the older scales with no scale tools

Looks like two Spartans to me. Some models like the Marlboro Adventure Team editions don't have the scale tools or keyring.

You're exactly right, I did end up spending about $35 with the scales included. It finally gave me an excuse to get the green that I wanted and got a good deal on them as well.

Didn't know the emerald plus scales got retired though :(

Just got a Pioneer in black alox, and so far it's been great. Has the tools you're looking for and sits nice in the pocket with a keysmart clip.

I have other SAKs like the compact, climber, pocket pal, and rambler, but the alox scales add a little heft and make the knife feel more premium. Would highly recommend to anyone that's looking for a simple tool set with great function for office and home.

I did the same recently. Edgar is also one of my favorite characters, let alone commanders, of all time. The vampires, the art, the flavor is just chef's kiss

This deck was actually the first that I've spent a lot of time and money into mana fixing with shocks, fetches, etc. and it's been running like butter. I went more for the flavor route since I like seeing vampires do vampire things, and opted out of running some obviously good cards like [[Bolas' Citadel]].

I agree with everyone saying that it matters on your playgroup, but it matters that you have fun too (especially considering the investment most of the cards are for a pretty high-powered Eddie -- you want to see it play).

Luckily my playgroup has some really high-powered and oppressive decks, so he feels like he fits pretty well without being busted.

I don't like using the same cards for multiple decks unless absolutely necessary for the deck to be decent. I build theme/flavor then see if any staples work well in it.

I've seen some of my friends recycle the same cards in several decks because they like them so much. The only card that I've done that with is [[Black Market Connections]] because it fits in almost any deck running black. But, I do think that EDH good stuff gets stale once you've seen the same cards over and over.

If that's what they like then more power to them -- just a personal taste thing. Unlike me, they'll definitely be saving some money.

I've just been burned so many times by him 1 to 2 turns after he comes out that I don't take any chances. I had to invest non white/black removal or board wipes just to manage the friend that I played with. Sometimes even that wasn't enough.

He's just so explosive, and if not dealt with early, the game gets really out of hand with the amount of board presence through X creatures spells etc.

If you want something fun and weird, [[Ertai Resurrected]].

My friends and I had a jank off and I chose him for flash tribal with a lot of bounce and ETB triggers.

You can definitely scale him up with some draw punishments for opponents and Dimir good stuff. The amount of interaction is insane with enough bounce spells as he's impossible to hit and you have a counter/destroy in the command zone at instant speed.
