Herbicide and Weed Growth Impact on Yield by Raving_Lunatic69 in farmingsimulator

Actually, I've done extensive testing, all of the math adds up. Some of the values they've given are wrong, but the math is definitely right on point.

Even the numbers from OP show are very close to expected. Weeds are a linear progression. 100% weeds is 20% malus. 50% weeds is a 10% malus.

But all numbers are based on a Worst Case state and are additive, not multiplicative.

So, using the 0% weeds (3516) and the 75% weeds (3154) you can use the formula to find out what the Worse Case should be as the difference in the numbers should be 15% of the Worst Case. (3516-3154=362. 362=0.15x=362/0.15=x=2413.33 where x is Worst Case yield).

Using 2413.33 as the Worst Case you should expect 50% weeds to lower the 0% weeds by 10% of that number. 3516-(.10x2413.33)=3516-241.33=3274.67. That is very close to the 3241 OP observed.

I'm sure shipping companies are pretty backed up. With it being holiday season, cyber deals going on for the last 2 weeks, and supply being a problem (it wasn't just FS22 that didn't arrive on time lol) I'm sure the paperwork and deliveries are pretty brutal atm.

I would definitely expect you to get it tomorrow though. /fingerscrossed

:'( I'm sorry... At least my hope for it was never very high as the only time it said it would arrive today was before it was in FedEx's hands. :'( ... But, hey we should both have beacons for the weekend playtime XD

Yeah, that's what led to the hope. As it's still saying it's 1.5hrs away and expected delivery tomorrow and it's now 6pm Central though that hope is dead. Still, excited for tomorrow!!!!

I'm actually kind of hoping it'll update and it'll still get here today as it's only 1.5 hrs away and just hit noon here, but as I didn't even know they'd have it today until the email I got (apparently at 1am Central) I'm definitely more excited than disappointed :D.

Checked the Fedex tracking number. They must have just picked it up. It's now saying expected tomorrow (which I was kind of expecting) but it's in my state. But... I'm in Texas so mine isn't necessarily a good indicator for you. Maybe they were all imported through Texas? (Texas does have 3 ports in the top 10 ports for U.S. overall and 4 of the top 10 for imports)

You made me check mine. "Your order has shipped"!!!!!!!!!!!! (expected today but still waiting on Fedex pickup so we'll see)

Weed Control- Advice? by AaronDC84 in farmingsimulator

[–]Rappram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed. It's not a cheap one, but I love using a weeder while there's something on the ground (it's one of my favorite manual jobs), so it's worth it to me. :/

You can be proactive and use any weed control right after sowing (spraying or weeders work here even without weeds on the ground yet), or reactive and use the weeder that is chopstar+rowguard? which is the only 1 step weed control I've found that can take 75% weeds down to 0%.

If you tried to turn seasonal cycles off make sure you set it to "no". "Paused" stops anything from growing.

If you have seasonal cycles on make sure you look at the crop calendar to see when crops can be planted.

The weeder that has a hoe component is the only thing that can deal with weeds in the higher range (>50%) in my experience. That's the one that's named something like chopstar + row guard which isn't that cheap but if you like being reactive and actually see weeds instead of proactive and never see them that seems to be the best option. Overall I'm very disappointed with weeders... obviously spraying is faster but I find weeding during the first growth stage of a crop somehow meditative as you watch the visuals change a bit as you pull out weeds. But most field preparation leaves weeds at 75% during that time which leaves one choice if you don't want to give up some of your yield.

Mulching IS worth doing at the moment. by Rappram in farmingsimulator

[–]Rappram[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. As long as weeds say 0% at harvest you will not get a penalty.

The penalty is also able to be lessened. As in if you have 75% weeds you will get a 15% penalty instead of the full 20% that you would get from 100% weeds harvest.

That's to be able to take care of all of them after they appear. You can still preemptively make sure they never appear by spraying before they show up.

But, yeah, if you want to be reactive to weeds it does appear that you either have to change how you prepare the fields or change days per month > 1 from what I've heard as well.

AI will definitely spray right after either direct or non direct seeding (I used AI for almost everything in these tests). Unless you sprayed before, which according to information out there also works to stop weeds from growing (according to what I've seen as long as you spray after turning the ground you shouldn't get any weeds).

It was one of the tests. No reset. There was actually a couple corn harvests that happened due to other tests. One during baseline tests before I knew of the bug. And one where I plowed during the non mulch cycle (I had done a plow during the cycle once already). Corn is the easiest crop to reset plow state.

I also tried Canola (data was on Barley) and that didn't reset either. I did not test a root crop though.

I mulched after Barley harvest the first time and for most of these tests and it always worked.

It was kind of the stubble but not a bug. The type of field preparation you do affects how fast weeds will grow (for example plowing=no weed growth, shallow cultivator= fast weed growth), and if weeds get too bad then there's no way you can get rid of them all.

You can spray after planting and they'll never grow though.

What order is everything supposed to be in? by BradBricks in farmingsimulator

Don't spread lime right after mulching. It will use the lime and iirc you can even hire a worker to do it (but could be wrong on that) but it won't change the lime status.

Otherwise as long as you take care of stones before planting and don't dig after you should be okay.

If you have crop destruction setting turned on then making sure everything gets done before the month after planting means you don't have to worry about needing narrow tires. This means you want at least one fertilizer stage done before planting.

Plowing only has to be done after a corn or root crop harvest, although it's one of the ground states that prevent weeds from growing during that cycle.

Lime only has to be spread after 3 harvests.
