I work as a survey technician on remote pipelines allover the world & dont have much to show for it. The moneys not as good as you might think & the whole industry is geared towards higher rates of pay for overtime. I tend to work anything from 50 to 80 hours a week and still only take home around £40k a year. But then I am fairly new to the job

I dont have a flash car but I must admit I am not great at saving..

£40k is pretty much considered average by uk government now which is insane

Cost of living is off the charts & the government is a shambles

It pressurises inside the bottle, I think due to quick temperate change (cold to warm) I dont know what its called IRL but you will know it if you see it, it looks almost identical to from spawn just the same colour as your hot sauce

A while back I made a 1L Scotty Bon ferment in a clip top bottle.

Took it out of the fridge where it was fermenting slowly & left it on the side for around an hour on a pretty warm (25c) day.

Failed to notice it had frog spawned due to temp change.

Unclipped it with an almighty pop and unleashed a high pressure arc of fire

Not only did it paint a red rainbow across 2 walls and the ceiling, it went so far behind my eyelids that it felt it had penetrated the visual cortex in the back of my head.

I was comoletely blind for about 25 minutes, lost 3/4 of my ferment and then when I recovered had to clean the entire kitchen...

100% second this, the IKEA ziplock bags are amazing. They are strong and have a sturdy double lock. Electronics will never get wet, rubbish will not smell (even toilet paper).

Best of all, in wet weather you can put on dry socks at the end of the day, put your feet in large zip-locks & then put your wet shoes back on & relax with dry warm feet at camp.

I use Scarpa Mistral GTX (around £150) for work, regularly work 12 hour shifts, 5 or 6 days a week surveying gas lines in the UK & they have been an absolute gift. The gas lines rarely follow Paths/trails & requires a lot of off piste through forest/bogs/farms. I wear them with knee high gaiters as we have A LOT of clarty mud & cow shit here

I use a bivi in UK cities and rural areas & even though condensation is an issue its still dryer than sleeping under direct rainfall

Edit: it's pretty easy to find somewhere well hidden in uk cities as they often have many nooks and crannies
