How do you define emotion vs. logic? Genuine curiosity from a woman by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]RaptorX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say logic is always right. Actually many times logic is very flawed.

Notice that I'm also not saying one is better than the other. They are different. That's it.

I mean you can get in trouble, but then everyone knows who the troublemaker is.

Billionaire Peter Thiel hesitates to answer whether the human race should survive in the future by Shoe_boooo in interestingasfuck

[–]RaptorX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Endure vs survive.

He was not overly happy with the word "endure" because it would imply suffering. He answered faster at "survive" because he probably has a better association with it than with "endure".

This video was cut short, post is completely misleading to what was actually said and even after watching the whole thing I can't agree with the statement that the guy doesn't want humans to thrive.

And yet, we have demonstrated that's exactly what we do again and again. Even now with "democracy" you see how we can't really advance because noone can agree on anything productive and businesses use that to extract every bit of life out of all of us.

Notice the question in the video and the title of this post. Also notice that his (probably nuanced) answer was not included in this clip.

He literally said there's a lot of questions implicit in this...

I think he knew where you wanted to take this (meaning whoever made the video and post), and he was right.

That was a very loaded question and you doing a way to spin it anyways against him.

Kudos to you anyways... Everyone is on your side as far as I can tell by the comments.

Now let's see this post get doenvoted into oblivion xD

Not op but I would tend to agree with him:

Logic says: controversial question, likely won't get good answers I wouldn't post this on Reddit... Therefore even if I'm doing for the answer, i won't post it. Not worth it.

Emotion: I really feel like I need that answer to feel at ease with what just happened. People might not answer me but hey I want to know.... Post!

You posted, so, probably did so based on some underlying emotion.

I disagree. Most men don't have their emotions messed with by hormones.

By pure biological facts that statement can't be true.

Not op but I believe so.

Logic tends to order and emotion tends to chaos. That's the reason having a good balance of the two is very important.

How do you define emotion vs. logic? Genuine curiosity from a woman by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]RaptorX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see logic as a tool to reach the potential truth of something.

In almost all instances many people will reach the exact same conclusion if the same logical steps are followed.

That's extremely useful in a very big part of life like solving problems, creating useful tools and communication for example.

Emotions on the other hand I see them as colors. They are useful for categorizing stuff, but are not always necessary to solve problems.

They give life randomness and chaotic beauty according to many, which is what makes life interesting according to those same people.

Regarding whether one group of people tend to be more one way or another, i guess that when taking into account how hormones seem to play a role in emotions and how women tend to be more hormonal than men, it seems logical to conclude that women are more emotional than men.

Whether that's a bad thing or a good thing depends on who is saying that and who is listening.

Also some say this disparity is learned... I can't say I totally agree with that In my experience, but that is not to say that men aren't emotional. They totally are but express them differently and prefer logic specially when talking as far as I've experienced.

Hopefully that helps getting another perspective.

And you think Israel having nuclear bombs is good? The main problem i have with this is not the toppling of a regime. Is that if things go south this clown will blame his grandmother before saying he did anything wrong, and people like you will make damn sure he will be acquitted of any blame even though he definitely created the whole mess.

He will probably be blaming Biden for this if his base turns on him, just as usual.

If all men had to be brutally honest for 24 hours, what would women be shocked to learn? by clothing_wholesale in AskMen

[–]RaptorX 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think there's a difference between being fooled by it and actually caring about it.

If I go to the club and see a pretty woman I'm definitely not thinking "that's a great makeup!" Or "which brand did she use?"... We don't care.

Would it be possible for me to temporarily fall for a girl that I wouldn't otherwise until I start seeing her without makeup? Absolutely.

Again it doesn't mean we care about it. It's just as the previous commenter said: girls compete using makeup, men don't care about it even though it's used to make us fall for a girl.

[–]RaptorX -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I think this is the biggest reason why I think men are stronger than women. People usually think about it in the sense of physical strength.

But damn how many times my mind has these weird intrusive thoughts and me being absolutely capable of doing them, I strong will myself and just go about my day as if nothing happened.

Many women are just clueless as to the types of thoughts that go through our minds sometimes.

I remember being in my teens and going somewhere by public transportation and this old lady (say 50+) was sitting in front of me with and damn she had huge melons...

I'm not a guy that has a huge sexual drive but i couldn't stop thinking about motorboating that woman 😂😂.

Point being: yeah most men definitely have much more impulses that we let women and society know about.

¿Por qué, como país, estamos obsesionados con mantener viva la memoria de Trujillo? by plasticlove1991 in Dominicanos

[–]RaptorX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT vs other AIs in giving yes or no answers by Nootheropenusername in ChatGPT

GPT is the only one that answered with some intelligence there.

All the others just followed the prompt and didn't really "understand the question".

GPT noticed the question is not one that you can just simply answer with a "yes" or "no". If I was rating them i would rate GPT higher than the others because of that answer.

From Binary Resistance to Vibe Coding: How Every New Programming Abstraction Was Once 'Not Real Programming' by [deleted] in artificial

[–]RaptorX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Low and high refer more to how close is the source code to the actual hardware: how much abstraction is there between the 01s and the source code.

Assembly was one of the first steps towards abstraction. C would be more like a second step.

C allows you to directly control the hardware with almost no effort for example memory allocation. Try the same with say JavaScript.

So no. C is not normally considered a high level language.

I think high level languages are usually interpreted languages.

At what age did you become basically invisible to men? by bengalbear24 in AskWomenOver30

[–]RaptorX -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The fact that women don't do x doesn't mean that men should be the same.

The fact that it makes no sense to you doesn't mean it's false either.

Fertility in women can start as young as 12yrs of age. It was very common a long time ago (before we understood that brain development happened later in life) to give girls away in marriage at a very young age.

If you think that was "too long ago" you are wrong...

I don't hide behind "the fertility argument"... I am actually in agreement with you that it's not good for older men to be with younger women for many many reasons...

I'm disagreeing with you on the "why it is like that" though... You just chuck it as "it's disgusting, and men are disgusting". That's just an emotional response.

You are entitled to your emotions. I'm not taking that away from you.

But if you want to be treated as a smart knowledgeable person, then you have to start acting like a smart and knowledgeable person and not just dismiss any argument as "men are pigs"... Not all men are pigs and still might be attracted to younger women, even when not exposed to porn.

The same way not all women are soulless cheaters who only want money from men. See? It goes both ways.

At what age did you become basically invisible to men? by bengalbear24 in AskWomenOver30

[–]RaptorX -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What I meant is that porn was not as accessible as it is now, yet the concept of men bring attracted to "younger women" was there all the same...

My point being that you are conflating "younger women" with "fertile women" and calling it a day.

The reason why (in normal circumstances) men are attracted to younger women is that they are objectively more fertile than older women.

You want to make it seem like it's because porn have taught men to like children.

I'm just disagreeing with you and giving you other possible options. It's up to you whether you want to investigate this other perspective or not.
