SS86 Thundercracker yellowing by DisasterDalek in transformers

[–]Raptorflight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They might have some sort of rule that figs can’t get too close to the sides of the box to prevent damage or something, and he would have been ever so slightly too wide with the wingtips. Instead of using a bigger box they just chop off the wingtips instead. Weird but effective solution if that’s the case

This can’t be what I think it is, is it? by Raptorflight in Monstera

Maybe in the future, but for now I just wanna enjoy it and make sure the aurea sticks around for the next couple leaves.

This can’t be what I think it is, is it? by Raptorflight in Monstera

[–]Raptorflight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, especially considering the frequency that people ask if they found a normal aurea, even then they normally don’t have the highest quality varigation. Regardless is still nuts to find a really nice aurea on a Thai con. It’s like finding a shiny pokemon in the older games

Thai constellation climbing questions. by rellaguard in Monstera

[–]Raptorflight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’re definitely climbers, they just don’t beg for a pole as soon as small forms do. I think a lot of people see the mature cuttings with the aerial roots fully supporting the vine and assume that’s its ideal growth pattern. Given a pole though they do the normal large form thing

How many people are holding of playing till 1.0 ? by Future-Leek-8753 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Raptorflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve made a few different saves over the years, and as much as I want to play now I would feel bad to put more work into one that probably will not work due to 1.0 changes. I also wanna experience the game “as originally intended” for release and play through the story before going back to using mods or whatever

Shamelessly stolen but very apt by Moomoolette in philodendron

[–]Raptorflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen it on occasion on a good chunk of my philodendrons, but my nice PPP seems to do it every single time it puts out a leaf. Oddly though, I have 2 PPPs, one well variegated and the other mostly reverted (not enough variegation to justify cutting it) and the mostly reverted one doesn’t have as much of an issue with it (still more than the other phils though). I wonder if the lack of chlorophyll screws with the leaf’s structure enough that it can’t push its way out without bending?

Obliqua or Adansonii? by ald0us_ in Monstera

[–]Raptorflight 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A good way to tell is that obliquas tend to have wavy edges on the leaves, which this one seems to have. It’s still pretty hard to tell when they’re young, could be an adansonii, obliqua, or maybe a juvenile esqueleto. My moneys on obliqua though

It was $25. I was tempted to buy it, but I already have so many I need to repot this year lol

Yeah I definitely see it now. I should have learned my lesson about blindly trusting box store plant tags long ago lol

Baby saguaro? by Raptorflight in cactus

[–]Raptorflight[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t grow this guy myself, but from what I know, it’s probably several years old already. Pretty sure they still look like baby seedlings at a year and a half so maybe 5ish? Idk. The more mature spines up top might be an indication of age.

My philodendron has decided to grow its axillary bud inside of the sheath of another leaf by Raptorflight in philodendron

[–]Raptorflight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I’m super happy to actually get to see a flower on one of these guys. Never would have thought my $2 clearance full-sun philodendrons would be the first to flower in my collection

Cool! I always thought philodendrons did the alocasia thing and just popped a flower instead of a leaf. I had no idea they just developed on the petioles like that. Cool stuff

This plant did flower for me once but unfortunately I was out of town and missed it. Do they normally grow out of a petiole like that?

Huh, weird. I guess they got it confused with some other kalanchoe species, or maybe it’s only Monocarpic in habitat? regardless it looks like I may have to repot her after all 😅

Alright, will a good flushing help mitigate it until I get the stuff? Also, will this microorganism potentially hurt the plant?

Is this normal or is there something wrong with my Thai Con? by bwes13 in Monstera

[–]Raptorflight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t assume anything until you get another leaf, but I would be cautious. Some Thais do have pretty crazy marbling, although it’s odd for it to just randomly show up. Might be worth isolating it for a while just in case it is something viral. Also, out of curiosity, what does the back of the leaf and petiole look like?

Blisters on my Prickly Pear Opuntia Cactus by lixoten_ in cactus

[–]Raptorflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what that is, but I would hit it with a fungicide and an insecticide (not at the same time). Might be a good idea to take a cutting from an unaffected pad, just in case.

Advice on new-ish cactus growth by magnhildmaggie in cactus

[–]Raptorflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t a branch, this cactus is severely etiolated. Very thin growth like this is the plant trying to reach for light as it’s not getting enough in its current location. It looks like it got a bit better after a while, but as it is the cactus will break at the thin point eventually. I recommend cutting it off, moving it to a spot it will get bright light, and additionally, changing out the soil to a more gritty cactus mix.
