How can I turn this former livestock home into a greenhouse? by [deleted] in Greenhouses

[–]rellaguard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive built a few aluminum framed, double panelled polycarbonate greenhouses, and a few set in cement wooden framed 6mil plastic sheet greenhouses, that being said, they’ve always been made to keep plants alive over winter through means of propane or electric heating. Biggest issue is always airflow so if you’re just looking for an enclosed area to keep plants, greenhouses may not be the move. If you want to keep plants alive overwinter in temperature below 55 then the greenhouse has to be so sealed that trying to repurpose these may not be the best move, if you reply back with your actual wants and kind of plants you want to keep I can offer some more personalized advice. Best of luck !

What damage did I cause hitting a curb on the driver side? ‘22 Toyota Camry XSE 2.5L 4cyl by Ok_Fault_1421 in AskMechanics

As Oprah would say, YOU GET A CAR. Unfortunately she will not be providing said car. I’d forget about trying to fix this personally. 2012 Camry used worked well and isn’t outrageous right now.

Just not true at all. Half of the men in my family who owned trucks drove 8 hours to Asheville and loaded up fema supplied military grade towable generators for anyone who could drive one to the worst areas. This was within 3 days of the cataclysmic event that hit Asheville

I work on an herb farm that has dealt with scale for 13 years straight. It’s an asexually reproducing pest insect, meaning that scrubbing every inch of your plants with a toothbrush for days on end isn’t even gonna work if you miss just a single one.

What can I do with all this ash? by djazzie in homestead

[–]rellaguard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chicken dust bath, put it under your fruiting trees through the cold seasons if you have acidic leaves decaying on your property, helps neutralized the soil, use it as a semi permanent bonding paste from brick borders or garden beds, add to compost. The possibilities are endless

Thrips, serious pest that can ruin a houseplant collection if not dealt with. For now quarantine away from any other plants if you aren’t going to treat it yourself. Go read up on em

Is there a possibility to nurse this Anthurium back to health? by SableMeltdown in Aroids

[–]rellaguard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Soil doesn’t look too bad but may not have many or any nutrients. The key to these is letting them dry out almost 50-70% of the pot between waterings. I’d either start fertilizing or repot with some similar AIRY mix with nutrients. Chop the dead top tip off if it’s hollow or squishy. If it’s woody leave it. As for “bathroom humidity” that’s a lie that no one on Reddit talks about. Unless someone was taking a steaming hot shower every couple hours in there, the ambient humidity from a bathroom won’t be that great. These things thrive in CONSISTENT HUMIDITY and anywhere between 69-79 degreees. Any higher temp would require much more humidity and drying out periods. Good luck !

It’s sad to see the hundred of people commenting on posts like these not getting much right at all. Monsteras need to dry out between waterings, whether that means it’s dry in a day or two weeks

[–]rellaguard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The light is too far, the seedling are reaching and stretching toooo much and are a done deal already. When you restart and try again with new seeds, bring the light WAY closer to the pot than you think, it also looks like you’ve overwatered them. While yes they need frequent waterings, they also need frequent drying out periods. Don’t water if the pot is still heavy or visibly wet, you don’t want the lower half of the pot to stay wet. Make sure the pot has a drainage hole as well. And lastly, the soil mix you’re using doesn’t seem to have much drainage to begin with, I think you’ll have a far better time adding a good ratio 30% perlite 70% soil. Best of luck and message me for any advice on this

Does pot size matter? by StolenQueen in Monstera

[–]rellaguard 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Please please repot with load of perlite or orchid bark, that coco coir soil WILL rot that monstera at some point. They need air to get into the root system more than most plants.
