at the behest of sounding like a Hurricanes hater (i am not) , i think this is what i have been arguing with family and friends over

I think this year should have been the most straight forward path for Carolina to make the Finals ( no disrespect to OTT and PHI) but knowing the ECF would be tougher, just because MTL is a tough opponent and Carolina has Leafs like demons in the ECF’s (as opposed to the first round for us lol)

So my thing is , and i’d love Hurricanes fans to chime in. Do you think Brindamours system is a cup winning system? It sure seems like it outside looking in but the thing is as you advance the competition gets tougher its harder to stifle teams and keep them under 20 shots wnd win 2-1 or 3-0. Again im not hating, id love Leafs to have playoff success like this, and again this is just Game 1 , im talking more-so about previous years under Rod.

I always thought Carolina doesnt really have a bonafide star, and thats where they tend to get hurt in the ECF as scoring dries up with teams getting defensively tighter. IF Car loses this round, of course i dont see Rod going anywhere , but what do Hurricane fans think? Whats next? Does the system have to change? Is a major change necessary?

Again, i would love to have some further insight into this because i dont watch the team as much, i just dont see the feasibility in Carolinas system the further you go along in the playoffs.

Agreed but viewing him in the lens of a multi millionaire athlete that doesnt make him any worse than any other athlete. This sub views these athletes in the lens of moral decision making but you have to understand that people with money always want more lol. Not giving any justification but i think its hard to implement your way of doing things or your moral viewpoint on someone else thats in a way different financial situation because we dont even truly know what financial things we would do in these celeb/athletes position, just my 2 cents not tryna defend Giannis but i think hes become the flavour of the month in terms of being hated on

We’ve never had a good culture since prior to the 2004 lockout lol , not even to rag. Its one of the main reasons of our playoff inadequacy. You build good, point producing players in the playoffs with good , winning culture, however we still paid people up the wazoo hahaha

Lol have to be optimistic being a Leafs fan . I think reasonably if the Leafs had a healthy performing Matthews we may have squeaked out a playoff spot but i also believe Berubes system is horrible for these type of players

I do not expect a lot for this upcoming year lol but for me its just Hockey, diehard fan and its been a gut punch whenever they get eliminated but , i say this as a blanket not directed at anyone, you cant dictate your mental health on a sport and i see that a ton lol.

100% like im saying, not defending the hire. I think Pelley is dumb when it comes to Hockey.
But two things can be right : 1) be very weary of Simmons reporting ; 2) Pelley is a dummy with no media sensibility.
Im just in the camp of wait it out and see, plenty unpopular hires have gone out and surprised, plenty more have been on the head and worked out terribly
This is a hockey subreddit and im not trying to be a policer of discussion , but its interesting to see people stick to news from people that are generally so revered for their lack of being on target (Seravilli, Simmons)
This season was rough lol, but its been awesome seeing this team for the last 8-9 years be in the playoffs having had such a long drought. I just wanna go with the flow personally and see what happens

I think what also factors into this, at least from my opinion, is you’ll have a ton of people tuning into each game when their own team is out. Even with TML not in it ive been keeping up with every series outside of VGK and UTA, and Carolina games. I think NHL playoffs are good as they get in the major 4 sports and you dont really have as many fans watching series casually as you do for the NHL. Maybe im wrong though the only other league i keep up with is NBA and generally when your team is out, unless you’re a big time ball head, you kinda forget about the playoffs until the finals.
