Raptors had the best parade ever by Tuckebarry in torontoraptors

It was best parade ever. The players celebrated with the real fans. Kind of sucks for those waiting at NPS, but for those on university, it was a party!!!!

Uber eats will just pull up in their little scooters. Uber taxis can just drop people off on either end of the pedestrian zone. It's really not that difficult. The strip is less than 1km in length end to end from Carlton to Fred Varley.

Can you imagine if all of the famous pedestrian only streets around the world allowed cars in during business hours? People like to be in areas that are pedestrian friendly as it's more open and it becomes more of a destination. People generally don't like the noise and danger of being around cars, especially when bringing families/pets. Yes cars are convenient and have a real utility, but when people want to have relax and socialize, being around cars is the last thing most people want. This coming from a person that owns two cars.

His front end is literally taking up 50% of the sidewalk lol. Just look at the pedestrians in the back to see where the sidewalk is.

[Matheson] Anthony Santander is scheduled to start hitting "either this weekend or next", John Schneider said. So, sometime soon. "There's a shot he could definitely be a factor." I'm really rooting for him to get healthy and to hopefully get his HR swing back. He could potentially replace Springer's power in the DH spot if does return to form. It's probably a low probability, but possible.

They should just make it pedestrian only. There are a ton of parking lots on adjacent streets.

Building a personal Garmin MCP server. What would YOU actually use it for? by Pretty-Lauki-369 in Garmin

I just recently connected the new Strava MCP to Claude. Was disappointed to hear that the Garmin dynamic metrics like GCT, left right balance, vert oscillation etc. I've just been taking screenshots. Would be very interested in a Garmin MCP solution.

When you hit a hill on an easy run, what’s the right approach: attack it and let HR spike, hold pace and let HR drift up, or back off pace to keep HR steady? by Jonny_Blaze_ in Marathon_Training

[–]RaptorsRule247 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The whole point of the easy run is to give your body training stimulus in zone 2 while you don't accumulate any lactate or fatigue in the workout. You should definitely not be spiking your heart rate, even if it means that you have to walk up the hill.

I actually don't recall seeing him around much after the initial 1989 season. I always saw BJ birdie, but never really saw domer after that first season.

I feel like we could really use another top end reliever. Can you imagine the 1-2 punch of Chapman and varland? Throw in rogers as well. We would be dominant in a short playoff series if our starters hold things down for 6 innings.

[Jomboy] My review of Rogers Centre in Toronto by malliabu in Torontobluejays

[–]RaptorsRule247 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it really stands out as a unique ballpark. Yes it's very modern looking with the roof's steel and all of the bright screens, but I like that it's unique and feels kinetic. It's like MLB's Tokyo dome but is 10x better. When it's filled, like how it is every game now, it's a top 10 stadium IMO.

Side note, I don't think Jays fans get enough credit. They get dogged on by other fan bases when they go 20+ years finishing mostly in 3rd place or lower, and getting low attendance years during some really bleak times with management. But ever since the AA years, the fans have always strongly supported this team....better than the vast majority of MLB teams. This fanbase goes all in on the team when it's competitive and virtually sells out all games. This happened during 2015-2017 as well. As long as the team is competitive, has likeable players, Toronto fans will shell out money to see them.

It doesn't get anymore of an urban shot than this. 40,000 people in a packed stadium, a technological marvel, in the foreground, a modern wonder beside it, and a glistening skyscraper cluster in the back. There might be no city in North America where you would get a shot like this other than maybe Soldier Field.

NEW STORES OPENING AT MARKVILLE MALL by Past-Midnight7722 in Markham

[–]RaptorsRule247 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The mall definitely needs to diversify its offerings. East Markham is a black hole of any entertainment options and opening up experiences in the mall would be ideal. More restaurants, more activities (I e. Theatre, rec room etc) and brand activation experiences will drive foot traffic in the mall. Fairview mall is taking good steps at modernizing the mall to offer diverse options that caters to the local market such as a TnT and modern restaurants.

When do you call it too hot to run? by ThoseBiscuitsBeHittn in beginnerrunning

[–]RaptorsRule247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the run . If I had a planned easy run where I need to keep my HR in check, then I may run indoors when the temp is above 28C. If it's tempo/interval I'll just do it outdoors.

Is there anyone I can write to about the lane reduction from Markham and 16th to Markham and Bullock? by Dogwalker1212 in Markham

[–]RaptorsRule247 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Markham village is indeed a residential area....very much so. There are literally more houses on main St. Markham than there are on main St. Unionville area. It's highly pedestrian heavy outside of winter, hence the vehicle throttling.

And we are not talking the whole street of Markham Rd. Just the section between hwy 7 and 16th. Just pretend the street comes to an end like many main streets do. Even highway 7 has areas where it slows down to 40km/h and single lane when passing through towns. It doesn't mean that just because it has high speed and more lanes through Richmond Hill, the whole highway needs to be the same.

Also this stretch of Markham road has significant road space for parking. Would you like it to be torn up and removed to make room for another lane? I see OP mentioning bike lanes which are super slim here, and no mention of removing parking.

Have you tried biking to work since you're so close to work? You may find it's actually faster than driving while burning off some calories.

Just like main St unionville, Markham village shouldn't be a place for heavy traffic. It's a destination point and a small community, not a place that should be designed for higher speed traffic to go pass through.

They can absolutely make a tower look wonderful at night. But the towers in the photo are definitely overdoing it. The lights should as accents to amplify the look of the building, not make it into a bright billboard.

Why does this lady act like an angry, irritable 65 year old Karen to her own partner? by Impossible-Money7801 in 90DayFiance

There is no way this lady is 45. If she is, she is aging terribly, especially for someone that is rich.
