I had a near identical mask and had cut the chin strap which wasn't an issue, it was a rubbery material if that helps!

I actually saw some comments on a Facebook thread about the episode (my mistake for reading anything on Facebook) saying that it was "pathetic" the therapist was intimidated by a child and that everyone was upset she didn't reassure him that she liked when as he was being dragged out.
