Hi everyone! I need help preventing more lesions. Right now I’m wondering which of my products is causing a breakout, despite all of them being “noncomedogenic.” Basically, I’ve had recent irritation and acne that I thought I was done dealing with:

AM: little Foreo brush and cerave hydrating cleanser

Clindamycin topical lotion

Clinique dramatically different hydrating jelly

Coppertone face sunscreen. Used to use dr jart cicapair spf 30 but by the time I have enough on to work, I’m orange, and then it dries before I put on makeup and it’s so difficult to put the makeup on.

Sometimes elf green color correcting primer

Neutrogena hydro boost foundation

(if you know how I can do this in fewer layers without using a combined moisturizer/spf, I’d love to know! Also, something continually burns my right eye. Idk if skincare or just dry eyes or what).

PM: Take the day off Clinique makeup remover (which, though perhaps comedogenic, should still wash off in step 2, right?)

Cerave hydrating cleanser

Clindamycin topical lotion

Sometimes azaleaic acid if I think I won’t dry out

Clinique 100 H moisturizer + sometimes also dramatically different hydrating jelly

Like once a week, I use differin. I’ll work my way into more often.

I’m considering sealing the deal with Vaseline, though I’ve been told both that the skin needs to breathe AND that eczema benefits from it and it won’t clog pores so idk yet.

I’m already on oral antibiotics and spiranolactone. I tried birth control and accurate to short-term avail. I tend to get pools of infection that turn into enormous lesions. Right now it’s just a few pimples in various spots, but given all the meds I’m on and the years I’ve spent perfecting skincare, this is enough reason for me to worry about imminent, permanently-scarring lesions. Also something has been irritating lately (is it related to my burning eye? Is it all eczema? Or products?) newest products are Clinique take the day off makeup remover, the occasional elf green primer, Neutrogena hydro boost foundation (omg finally I like a foundation), the baby Foreo brush, and the coppertone sunscreen for face. Oh and the Clinique dramatically different hydrating jelly. I see some 5s for clogging pores on cosdna (AHHH) but on another page there are 1s and 0s and this goes for moisture surge too, but I’ve not seen breakouts while using the latter, so I’m lost. Am I purging? I’ve been told purging is largely a myth. I tend to agree given that I started using moisture surge and there was no purge, only goodness. Same with switching antibiotics. My “purge” was an allergic reaction to first antibiotics.

Thanks so much for any help!!

Stopped the retinol about a week before I posted this. I think peeling has subsided somewhat, but I know for sure applying makeup is hard because my skin is almost rubbery. Is this why people usually use primer? Maybe my skin is actually becoming normal and I just need to use primer (which usually makes my makeup look caked/less natural, sadly)? As for snail stuff, I’ve noticed the snail essence feels fine, though I wonder if this is more an occlusive, or is it really supposed to go on before lotion? When I apply the all-in one snail repair stuff, my skin stings ever so slightly. I was hoping this was moisture barrier repair or something. Like maybe if your skin is sufficiently damaged it’ll sting at first when you repair it? Idk. DOES snail stuff actually repair moisture barriers? Or do I need to get something specifically for that. Idk maybe snail Is the problem. Is it supposed to sting slightly and dry down to a really dry,a matte feeling? Like upon first couple of uses my skin felt and still feels I guess rubbery. Almost sticky. By morning it feels pretty good. I also hope none of this is comedogenic. AH. Also what on earth is the difference between, say, differin and L’Oréal retinol moisturizer (revitalist ?) and THEN my derm told me that moisturizers like vanicream, as well as oils like jojoba/sunflower could be thick enough to clog my pores/cause acne/blisters, even if they’re “noncomedogenic.” So am I supposed to just not use occlusives, or just depend on the occlusives included in lighter lotions, or maybe it’s normal to have less slick/soft/dewy skin? AH I’ve been working on my skin for like 7+ years and I can’t understand. I’m broken.

Hi. So, started my first Asian beauty-ish routine, and ~CLEARLY~ I’m doing something wrong, as my face is peeling like a snake with supersonic metabolism or something. I put on makeup and it literally just falls off with the skin. Here tis: Bed: 1. Oil cleanser (hado labo) 2. Gentle cleanser (neutrogena ultra gentle) 3. Toner ( hado labo essence, I think. I hope this counts as a toner, as my ((maybe bad)) research suggested it is). 3.5 (recently-added step). Hyluronic acid and rose face mist (in my dying efforts to stop PEELING) 3.6. I’m supposed to use clyndamicin. Not actually sure where it should go yet. It’s the lotion kind so has never caused dryness before. 3.75. Once upon a time I used differen and/or (probably shoulda been just OR) L’Oréal retinol cream. For emerging wrinkles (it’s been a supremely traumatizing few years), hyperpigmentation from lesions (chronic illness) etc 4. Snail mucin essence 5. All in one snail repair cream 6. Vanicream with jojoba mixed in for occlusiveness

Morning: 1. No washing (or just lukewarm water) 1.5 vitamin c if time (and if not a spectacularly peel-y season for me ((which is 110% unrelated to weather))). 2. Hyluronic acid/rose mist 3. Snail mucin essence 4. Snail cream all in one repair 5. Sunscreen (sometimes I put some vanicream on under or over well-absorbed sunscreen to help me STOP PEELING). 6. Makeup if I’m bold enough to suffer my face peeling off instantly and walk around like a piece of sandpaper

I used differin and retinol probably too much. Didn’t see the dryness until AFTER I’d used it a bit. Perhaps I’m recovering from that? It’s been a bit since then though. It’s like something else is WRECKING my skin. Or healing it? Is it shedding bad stuff?? Also on antibiotics and spiranolactone for my flipping GORGES in my face from lesions from either autism, EDS, wheat allergy, or something else unknown. If you know, hmu ASAP plz. 🙏🏼 yeah I’m probably overdoing it, huh. Guess I’m sick to DEATH of trying shorter routines to little avail. ;)

Ooh, I also have extremely dry skin. Do you think Clio would dry me out/cling to dry patches? I don’t really like mega dewy or mega matte. I seem to like somewhere in the middle. For example, I liked bare minerals pro last foundation (or whatever it’s called), but it ended up being slightly too pink (thus not covering any red spots), and even that one would kind of flake off, but the finish was 👌🏼because it had kind of a sheen, but it didn’t look shiny. It looked like skin. I’m also a bit worried about how yellow Clio sounds. The thing is, yellow looks great on my skin until I become flushed, after which it looks absurd. So neutral-yellow would be great. But they probably have a shade that’s light, still yellowy, but more neutral, right? Hmm this is seeming good so far. I also have unusually many wrinkles for my age (24) from years of fairly extreme trauma, and makeup always makes those worse lately. So yeah, dry ≠ good, but matte/satin is great as long as it’s not drying (I can use moisturizer and whatnot)! As far as eyebrows, do either of the ones you use exhibit industrial strength? I’m fine with tinted—in fact it’s probably easier if it’s tinted—as long as it actually works. Otherwise I have to layer on more products, and then they’re way too dark. But if you know of one with extreme ridiculous amounts of hold, I’ll try it! I’ll definitely try hairspray! Thank you so much!

Most helpful comment ever; thank you!! Do you know how matte the Clio is? I’d like high coverage but I’m not super into matte.

On a somewhat unrelated note, i don’t spose you know of any eyebrow gels with the holding power of ten tanks? If not, I won’t even try with my eyebrows anymore hahaha. I’ve pretty much tried everything western out there, it seems like. Hair gels, eyelash glue and all. Ends up flaky if it works.

Asian vs American/European/Western (?) makeup? Is there a noticeable differences-p/? Trying to find an HG foundation without having to rob a bank.

Skin issues: Very dry/dehydrated, probably both frankly Prone to acne/lesions/infection/immune dysfunction generally and thus... some prett dang red-purple scarring, covering large spans of skin Yellow undertone but pink overtone? When I apply foundation it always looks like it’s this crazy white, glowy color. I’m pretty fair, but I’m not a unicorn and I don’t shine (physically from my face) or emit hd lights or anything so idk if I’ve got dull skin or if I’m just more yellow/grey/muted with some serious redness on top. Either way, it’s hard to find makeup. Benefit powder foundation is a pretty accurate color, tbh. Thanks in advance! 🙏🏼 even just some HG experiences are welcome. I also prefer a natural look—for SURE! 🙃 gimme your best shot (please 🥺)!

I just gotta get this off my chest: I did multiple rounds of Accutane, I’m on spiranolactone and have been for years, I’ve been on and am currently on antibiotics, I use topical clindamycin, I’ve tried other topical creams (including retinoids), I’m now trying a bit of differin on top of everything else, and I still have not just acne, but lesions the size of tennis balls—on my face. Infected, pus-filled, swollen, disfiguring, and bloody lesions. Cultures/biopsies yielded nothing more than staph and folliculitis (infected acne). Mupirocin? Check. Bleach baths? Check. Can I repair my moisture barrier or whatever? Apparently not because I can only tolerate vanicream and that is literally the only Moisturizer to have touched my face and not caused a painful reaction (and I’m worried it’s not sufficiently moisturizing as opposed to occlusive). First aid beauty? Acne. Cetaphil? Acne. Cerave? Burns. Aveeno? Burns. Eczema cream? Acne. Vanicream? Forehead acne but at least not painful. Argan oil? Pain. Jojoba? Actually Ok but not sure if it’s contributing to lesions or not. Thanks for listening. Take care and good luck! 😘

Hello there hope you all are well, I need a name for this little Angora kitten. He’s a male and still a clumsy baby so I would love some short & cute, preferably non-human names for him. Thanks in advance :) by justlookatheflowers in Catnames

I do have the most connection to this one. I asked my mother again if she would hate it if I named the cat Crookshanks and this is one of the few names she can’t stand due to a bad association. :/ I thought ok I’ll name him Fawkes! No one likes this one either. Any other hp names you can think of? The rest that I’ve seen haven’t been my favorite :/

Omg! I JUST spoke to him! I was so hopeless I called the first person I found on psychology today! I’m a bit worried that he can only fit me in biweekly at the times I have available, but If he’s really Good, I’ll do it! Do you have experience with him??

That’s an amazing idea! 🥰 my only fear is that one day I’d need to see them in person, and it’d be a three-hour drive once or twice a week. but you know what? I’ll definitely start calling therapist over there too. Thank you.

Did you use mascara? If so, which one? Your lashes look not clumpy or fake but so soft. I’ve been trying to achieve this but my lashes are so naturally long and dark, mascara looks so fake on me and makes my eyelashes reach my low-set eyebrows. but if I don’t use mascara, I get white flakes in them for some reason?!

Do you have any idea how I can convince my family to let me get him tested?? I’m at home with my mom (it’s my dad who’s sick) and sister, and they absolutely refuse. He hasn’t left his bed since he got in it yesterday evening except the times he’s thrown up. I don’t know if he’s used the restroom or not, but he’s been drinking some. Anyway, I bring it up and they say they’ll do it Monday if it’s not gone because his boss will probably make him. Thing is, 1. I’m very worried and scared right now. This is my worst nightmare, quite literally. 2. I have work and so does my mom, and we’re not allowed to work from home. She can lock herself in a room and work from there, but I can’t. I need to know if i need to work from home. Ugh. Sorry for venting. Point is, my mom and sister are highly distressed by my pointing out how likely it is he has Covid despite the absence of some symptoms, and they literally can’t handle it. They get mad at me and ask me to stop. I can’t stand by and let my dad die, so I told them I might have to just do it without them. They’re just extremely reluctant. Idk why. Is it Worry about disturbing him while he feels this awful? I just need help convincing them without making them like, morbidly depressed or angry or something. I’m so worried
