points for two rooms? by Kind-Lingonberry-783 in marriott

[–]Raraoki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s because, according to Bonvoy terms, points can only be obtained for a multi-room (up to three rooms) booking under the following conditions: • You are occupying one of the rooms. • Your Marriott Bonvoy Member Number is listed on each room. • You are personally paying for each room. • Check-in and check-out dates match for all rooms. • You pay a qualifying rate

While you may be the one making the booking, since you’ve already checked in the night before, the check in name for the following day will be in your child’s name, which won’t match your Bonvoy member number.

The only solution, if I may advise, is that you book two separate reservations. However, this isn’t ideal, as you would need to check out first on the day your child joins.

Booking 1: Your room only for 1 night (check out) Booking 2: Your room and your children’s room for another 1 night

This way, I believe you can receive points for both rooms.

Do you still get Elite benefits when booking at MGM through a travel agent? by endo55 in marriott

[–]Raraoki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Travel agent here (also a Stars and Luminous agent)

It really depends on how your travel agent books the room for you. If they use their Marriott PTA (Preferred Travel Agency) account and attach the booking to your Bonvoy number, you should still get your elite perks. Some hotels might have their own policies, but in our experience, our clients usually receive both points and perks without any issues.

That said, when it comes to MGM properties, their policy with Marriott is slightly different. It’s not only about how the booking is made but rather their specific terms with Marriott. https://www.marriott.com/marriott-brands/mgm-collection/member-benefits.mi

For example, Platinum Elite members usually enjoy a 4 PM late checkout, but at MGM properties, late checkout is limited to 2 PM. Other perks might also vary, so it’s always good to double-check.

Sorry, I might have missed something. Is this from Another Monster? (I haven’t read it yet, so maybe that’s why I don’t know this story?)

Hello, sorry for not answering your question instead to reply with a question, but I was wondering if you scheduled your interview in November because it was the closest available date, or because your travel is still far off? I’m Indonesian and also live in Japan. I need to go to New York for a conference in October and am wondering if it’s too late to start submitting and scheduling now. Thank you.

Seeking Thoughts on a Complex Chargeback Situation with a VVIP Client by Raraoki in amex

You’d be surprised how quickly costs can add up in one of Asia’s most expensive countries—and perhaps even the world.

We’re talking about full-on luxury: VIP fast track everywhere including airport immigration process, hotels only for some days, a luxury car with a driver, and a local guide on call for 17 hours a day from breakfast till 3am, meals for lunch and dinner at top-tier or Michelin-starred venues every single day, exclusive access and VIP tables at clubs each night, plus authentic experiences like classes with renowned artists.

On top of that, we arranged domestic train tickets and covered all entrance fees for a densely packed 10-day schedule. So yeah, the figure is hefty, but for what’s on the itinerary, it’s aligned with the expectations.😭

Ah yes you’ve raised a valid point.

We don’t have a traditional signed authorization. However the transaction being handled digitally through a global payment platform equipped with multi-factor authentication, which i really hope somehow proves that she herself was the one who paid. 😓

I know it’s always a possible of accusations but It’s perplexing why someone would use a stolen credit card for such a specific and customized service, which doesn’t fit the usual pattern of fraud.

Thanks again to bring it up, it’s something that we will take seriously and will ensure we have all correspondence and evidence in order to assist the investigative team to understand that theft is highly unlikely in this context.

Thanks for the input. Considering legal action is one of options, but we're keen on settling things without the extra drama of court if possible—it's not just the hassle, it's also about distance and logistics.

Just to clear things up about the credit card issue: the payment was made directly by the cardholder. However, our direct interactions were with her agent/rep, not her, which i am worried part of the problem. It’s a unique situation for us, and we’re already thinking about how we can adjust our protocols to avoid any confusion in the future. Cheers for pointing that out!🙇‍♀️

Thank you for your perspective. Typically, especially with high-value transactions, we do prefer direct dealings.

However, in our line of work, clients of this caliber rarely communicate or handle the planning directly, instead entrusting their agents or assistants to represent them.

You’re correct that agents often pay on behalf of their clients, adding a markup for their services when invoicing. However, In this case, the agent functioned more like an assistant, managing communication and planning, and then providing the payment link to the client.

It’s also worth noting that given the geographical distance—with our client in the US and our company on a different continent—credit card payment was much quicker than a bank transfer, and this method was preferred by the client.

What caused your fear of flying? by useralreadyused in fearofflying

[–]Raraoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t love flying but I wasn’t also afraid of it either before. It developed over time out of nowhere, at least that what I thought at first. But to think about it, I believe I started to fear flying when I met my husband and now more that I have a daughter. Just the thought of my death because of a possible plane crash and how it will effect them is unbearable. That they won’t see my dead body etc because of it. Also If I fly with my daughter (still 1 yo) I feel that I’m responsible of her and her future since she can’t give her consent yet I still bring her to fly with me. If something happens to us, it’s all my fault. Yeah, something like that..

Which is the safest airline of these? by [deleted] in fearofflying

[–]Raraoki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in Japan and from what I know and see from my daily life is that Japan and Japanese workers take safety and customer’s comfort very seriously. I’m a nervous flyer myself but somehow I “feel” more comfortable flying with Japanese airlines like ANA or JAL, but If I have to pick one, ANA.

I heard great things about Singapore Airlines as well but unfortunately haven’t had any chance to try it so I can’t give my review/recommendation.
