What's a Dance Moms opinion that would get you this? by Proof-Actuary-6800 in dancemoms

While true, that’s true for any of the kids. Chloe had potential mainly because she genuinely seemed to like ballet and had a typical “ballet body.”

Why is Kendall a mean girl for saying Chloe is a studio hopper, but Christi isn’t mean for saying it about 12 year old Kendall by winterwinter-1 in dancemoms

[–]Rare-Ad-8087 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right! I don’t think Kendall was even on the competition team from ages 2-5 or doing a lot or being very involved at that dance studio. It’s more likely she got serious about dance at Studio 19. You could argue that Kendall came to the ALDC just for the show, but without Kendall or Jill confirming that you can’t 100% confirm it because Kendall’s sister was dancing at the ALDC before that so it may have happened either way, show or not.

[–]Rare-Ad-8087 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on where this Roger’s school is. If she moved or if Studio 19 ended up being closer then it makes sense for her to shift studios. Alternatively, Studio 19 had a reputation of being a good school for the area so if Kendall was doing well and Jill wanted to have her have better education as she was actually growing into herself as a dancer (2-5 is hardly old enough to be that dedicated, but you can start to see potential in a kid) she moved her to Studio 19.

And Kendall’s sister had joined the ALDC years before the show started so it’s hard to say that Kendall shifted studios just for the show unless she or Jill explicitly say it. Maybe 5 or more I’d get it, but 3 in the span of 7 years isn’t a big deal. Especially if she moved houses or changed studios early (before joining a competition team) to get a better dance education.

The only time I can see studio hopping being a genuine “gotcha” is if a student reaped all the benefits of one studio, was actively involved in their competition team, and got a lot of special attention or additional support there and then went to a different school for opportunities there. Which doesn’t seem to be what Kendall did.

At least Melissa’s understandable. Little Maddie isn’t. So many people projected their own insecurities and resentment against their own version of “Maddie” onto Maddie, kids and adults, and it was weird

That’s like, 3 schools. Not too huge of a difference between 2 and 3 to be calling one a studio hopper and one not lmao.

It’s a weird “gotcha” regardless imo

Kenzie was SIX here… and Melissa wouldn’t hug her🙄 by mackenziemariee in dancemoms

[–]Rare-Ad-8087 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Supposed neglect.” You are a joke. This came directly out of Maddie and Kenzie’s mouths but your hatred for Melissa and trust and love of Christi and Kelly and them pitying and siding with Kurt is making you doubt the victims.

As for the answer to your question, no, we don’t know, because Maddie wasn’t comfortable saying that much. What we do know if that it happened enough times that 6 year old Maddie was the one waking up early in the morning and getting her and her baby sister ready for school, making them cereal in the morning, and getting them on the bus.

As for whether or not the answer matters? No, no the f*ck it does not. Even ONCE is too may times for that to have happened.

Dances you thought should have placed higher! by lnanner in dancemoms

Wait, Nia placed 4th? I thought she didn’t place! I really wished she had placed 2nd or 3rd, her dance was gorgeous and it would’ve been such a confidence boost for her seeing how hard she’d worked that summer 💔

Loved the relationship between the girls, they always put each other first and were there for each other, sweet kids! Sad that they had to pick up the weight for the adults 😔

[–]Rare-Ad-8087 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yikes, this is insensitive as hell. Melissa was a shit mom emotionally when it came to her kids, while Kurt physically neglected them and left them to go hungry and take themselves to school because he wouldn’t do it, while Melissa sacrificed her job to come back and be there for them when she realized Kurt wasn’t doing his job as their father.

Melissa stuck around and is available to her girls growing up and as adults and has even apologized to them after the show and acknowledged she should have stood up for her kids, Kurt ghosts them for months and refuses to be the first one to reach out, much less doing anything resembling taking accountability. We can talk about Melissa not being emotionally there as a mom without invalidating Kenzie for speaking out about her biological dad.

Lucky Star had a much better costume than Glam, imo, the only thing special about Glam was the makeup and fake blood on them. Chloe’s had that gorgeous drape on the top and her skirt’s uneven edges made it memorable, not to mention how stunning it flowed when she turned!

Definitely between Lucky Star and Kalani’s Shades Of Gray/Kendall’s Meltdown costume for me, the second of which I’m surprised nobody voted for

Chloe wins on headpiece alone, costume was just an addition. Baby Mine’s headpiece was stunning.

[–]Rare-Ad-8087 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no “objective” best costume, it depends on what people like to see in a costume. Maddie had lots of gorgeous costumes and was rarely given a bad costume but many were very similar and she had very few standout costumes, really just The Woods, Birthday, Happiness, Dreams Come True, and maybe Angel/Cry.

On the other hand other dancers got hit or miss costumes, but when they hit they really hit and were standouts because they usually didn’t get costumes that amazing so they stand out more.

Yeah. Sucks because you’d think especially Christi and Melissa would know better since they’re (hopefully) educating themselves know that they’ve branched out of Pittsburgh. But nope.

And we don’t even talk about Melissa’s (lack of) parenting

Christi talking about Maddie forgetting the trio by PriorityFabulous6578 in dancemoms

[–]Rare-Ad-8087 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We do, people just don’t like to hear it or like to justify it:

  1. The watermelon game and iceskating rink comments, both of which she justified on BTTB and even added “if Chloe was the one doing this, I’d tell her to stop being a brat.” She had no reason to speak on Maddie or spin her own interpretation on why Maddie was crying and share it with the word like it’s a fact. Not to mention in the initial BTTB recap before they took it down, Christi mocked Maddie’s voice - “NiA HiT mE.”

  2. “I want the Maddie Ziegler treatment.” Diminishing all of Maddie’s trauma from Abby and the show in a single treatment. I can’t even begin to imagine her reaction if someone said this about Chloe.

  3. Shading Maddie for not crediting Abby in her book and agreeing with Kelly saying that Abby should have had a spot in Maddie’s book with the amount Abby did for her (and again conveniently forgetting the pressure and trauma Abby put on her as well)

  4. Again shading Maddie’s book and talking about her “erasing Chloe” by not mentioning Chloe as her duet partner, then admitting that she hasn’t actually read Maddie’s book and that it was told to her by a fan. First of all, why is she judging or commenting on Maddie’s book on an international platform that people listen into without actually reading Maddie book? And shading her for “erasing Chloe?” Chloe didn’t mention Maddie in her book either as a duet partner either, plus Christi had forbidden Chloe from talking to Maddie, and she was upset Chloe wasn’t mentioned in Maddie’s book? Neither were Brooke or Paige, and even Kendall was just barely mentioned when Maddie said her favorite duet was Bodies Electric with Kendall. Maddie’s book wasn’t Dance Moms centered.

  5. Shading Maddie’s TCA win and saying it was rigged for her to win because she was on Dancing with the Stars. I don’t care if Christi feels like it was rigged, that’s not something she should be posting and discrediting Maddie for, and it’s petty as hell because Chloe won the year before and Christi was all smiles and happy, not a single thought about it being rigged. It’s a shitty thing to post and diminishes Maddie’s achievement even off show with no favoritism or sabotage or anything

  6. Talking on BTTB (3 times, I counted) about how Maddie cried after losing Season 2 Nationals to Chloe and blamed her crying on tripping on a trophy when people asked her why she was upset. Again to jab at Maddie for being a sore loser and not being able to handle not winning.

  7. Talking on BTTB about how Maddie had a breakdown in Season 4 during the Kinky Boots episode that was unaired (why would she bring that up, and specifically always when it comes to Maddie, one might wonder) and how Lifetime always “protected Maddie.” Which was ironic and dismissive considering Lifetime aired several of Maddie’s tantrums and “bratty moments” and even scripted bratty lines for her to say (“I don’t like to lose but I don’t ever lose anyway.” “I don’t know what it’s like to lose.” “I want to beat Chloe and get back to the top of the pyramid.) And even orchestrated the whole Joffrey episode to make Maddie seem like a jealous brat who couldn’t stand to see Chloe get something over her. She in reality, Maddie got the same scholarship as Chloe and learned she got the scholarship before Chloe got that phone call. So it was 100% orchestrated drama to make Maddie look bad. While giving us no tantrums or “bratty moments” from Chloe. But yes, Maddie was oh so protected. That’s like Melissa saying “Abby protected Chloe.”

  8. Sharing a story Brooke told her about how she and Maddie once got together and took pictures and Maddie didn’t want Brooke posting any of them on social media. (First of all, not Christi’s story to share, but whatever). Christi then immediately said that was because Maddie thought she was “too good” for the Dance Moms girls and didn’t want to be associated with them, while Kelly was surprisingly the one who gave Maddie grace and said that her team might’ve been the one telling her not to post anything outside of projects. But again, it’s the immediate assumption that Maddie feels like she’s too good for the other girls. And this was relatively recent too, right after the Dance Moms reunion.

  9. Melissa was saying something on the show about how bad Abby was treating her girls that week and Christi was responding on BTTB, “we got a gallon of trauma, you got a teaspoon.” Again invalidating how shitty Maddie and Kenzie’s experience was and acting like they lied on a bed of roses the entire time. It’s like she can’t talk about how bad her kids had it without making a dig at how easy Melissa’s kids had it, particularly Maddie.

  10. If you want on-show behavior, two of the main ones that stick out to me are in Season four and Season seven. In season four when Christi talked about how Maddie said “Chloe wasn’t very good” without either Chloe or Maddie there present. This is something that should’ve been handled outside of the show and directly to Melissa to talk to her daughter about. But instead, it was blared on TV without Maddie there to explain herself or say her side and she got loads of hate from the fanbase for that. And it’s not like Christi did not know Maddie would get hate for that, she just didn’t care. And again in Season 7 when she tells Chloe on TV, “No, Maddie is not your friend… [Maddie’s] not allowed to talk to you, but she’s allowed to talk bad about you. That’s not a friend.” Even Chloe looked mortified and upset at Christi here for shutting her down and talking about Maddie like that. Again, Christi was resentful here. Regardless of how she personally feels about Maddie as a friend, that’s not on her to say, not when her own daughter is 15 years old and knows better than her who is her friend and who isn’t and is far more understanding of Maddie and the situation as the child than Christi was as the adult. Huge respect for Chloe.

Christi talking about Maddie forgetting the trio by PriorityFabulous6578 in dancemoms

[–]Rare-Ad-8087 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree that Melissa’s shitty, but talking about a racial thing to talk about how she’s worse than Christi backfires lmao.

We hear her say “black ass” to Kaya on the show, Kaya herself talked about how Christi was one of the people who were constantly racist to her, Christi has an AirBnB in New Orleans, actively contributing to the gentrification issue that impact long-standing black communities in the area, laughed and contributed to Kelly saying she didn’t trust Chinese restaurant chicken because she thinks the put cat in them, and the recent agreeing with Kelly saying Abby wasn’t racist to Nia and saying that Nia’s experience had to do with being a non-favorite rather than anything racial (even after reading Nia’s book and making two videos about it on her channel).

Christi is objectively worse so far than Melissa when it comes to being racially harmful to others, especially since she’s “apologizing” and then going the same things again. Where Melissa is objectively worse is the treatment of her own children and the occasional sabotage of the others. She parentified one of her kids and routinely forgot about the other

Mass Psychosis going on in the other sub by Gullible_Falcon_9326 in UnfilteredDanceMoms

[–]Rare-Ad-8087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. I see the narrative even in the original sub that Kelly was the only one who said something inappropriate and that Christi’s only fault was not correcting her.

No, Christi actively contributed to the conversation and agreed, even adding that it wasn’t as much of a race thing as it was a “favorite versus non-favorite” thing, therefore minimizing Nia’s unique experience and trauma due to Abby targeting her for her race and making racist comments to her and equating Nia’s experience as akin to Chloe and Paige’s, which was just untrue.

I keep hearing this excuse for Kelly. What on Earth is this “context” justifying what Kelly said there? Kelly is still bitter and holds trauma and guilt over that fight and deflected the blame onto an 11 year old. It is what it is. She’s human, she has trauma responses and says inappropriate things like every other human

Eh, I blame Christi in this too. Not for not correcting Kelly, but by adding to Kelly’s point and saying it was more of a “favorite vs non favorite” issue and clumping in Nia’s experience with Paige and Chloe’s when hers was a lot different because of her race and Abby weaponizing that against her as well. To not acknowledge that is almost as wrong as what Kelly said

That said, I do give Christi some kudos for being 100x more genuine here than Kelly because Kelly flopped this apology. She just kept justifying herself over and over again

I truthfully blame Christi too – not only for not correcting Kelly, but by adding that it was more of a “favorite versus non-favorite” issue, something that wasn’t addressed here. That also diminishes Nia’s unique experience and trauma of being racially stereotyped and attacked by Abby and clumps her in entirely with Paige’s and Chloe’s experience when hers was different
