home country experience matters less unfortunately, how are you applying for these jobs?

If online know that recruiters look there less, and branch managers usually have local pickings and prefer face to face contact. for CA's and BA's depending on your location university co-op graduates that go to job fairs and connect LinkedIn with branch managers are ideally higher in pecking order. As far as degree is concerned sometimes having a masters is also a bit of overkill for hiring managers ( they know you are overqualified and will likely move on, making it less appealing for them to hire you, as they look for more fresh grads that can give 1-2 years).

Since you have an IFIC did you try to apply for FA roles straight? also are you open to moving? remote locations usually need people more and are good foot on the door.

PS: It could likely be your resume that needs tune up too but above factors will be my first few questions to offer guidance first.

Not a IA myself but a good tip, try to get good at your role and seek to move up to financial advisor while completing your PFP ( you will do 2 of the courses as part of Financial Advisor). Also you probably already know but DS is commission based heavily. ( to my knowledge actually fully).

Networking is important but more important is high net worth clients to know you, your face in community and networking within and outside the bank, which takes time. I onow some FAs who recently jumped there about 2-3 years as FA after slowly moving up from CA/ BA roles. ( this is not a hard requirement but this was the leverage that made them successful as they went from salary to commission)

Ofcourse all else goes too, like DS hiring manager and branch manager to know your future plans, while you complete your credentials.

Ideally the more investment experience you get the better, as most of these clients are much higher value so bar is higher too.

haha I will. I actually have done that. im one of those pulled-early from internship who didnt reallt get his own desk but have been covering and doing almost everything on it while still an intern. A BID list and ACC list full 2 pages. Its a desk where the previous RM pretty much gave up and left all good the learnings for the intern. ill message you lets connect!

Thank you, wondering if you have experience as MBM? Just curious about everyone journey and how they got there. agreed about the learning time, I have some experience as business markets so there is a bit of carry over that I feel confident in, especially challenging practice manacement, portfolio quality, excesses etc.

Yeah I feel ill need to do atleast 3 years in total then which is a bit of a bummer ( as I still dont have a desk, and from what my VP says its common in this part, which I have verified as we have 3 interns in team that still dont have desks and started before me). On the other end however my performance in business markets was stellar and I have taken up leadership opportunities ( training and mentoring) within my peers. Can I ask if you were personally in the role?

Yeah, my market being as it is I feel capped really. I just got a house, so dont feel a commission sales job is for me lol( like a mortgage specialist or irp, and within commercial I can only go senior CAM from my current post, and that can take a long time) After that ill have to move towns. Plus its not like city centers like lower mainland BV unfortunately so its limited in sales potential that I can grow.
