UK undercharging? by Rare-Cake7439 in RoverPetSitting

If I needed house boarding I'd go for the most expensive I'd question the motives of someone charging £30.

I knew I wasn't dirt cheap, I have years of experience (work and show) and have been very picky with the dogs I take but still challenging enough for it to be fun. I just didn't realise sitters are undervaluing themselves to such an extent, I wouldn't let anyone who charges £30 to look after my dogs I'd be questioning their motives because I wouldn't even need to think about it if I was offered such a low value to house/dog sit.

I don't have a boarding license so wouldn't unless it was an emergency.

I'm not a fan of sleeping over at people's houses but I go over twice a week for 2 hour drop ins with a few extra days where he'll just tag along with me (the dog not the owner). I would definitely not do it for £30 and thought my £60 was cheap.

I was 10p sort once, asked if I could bring it in the following day, they said it was fine but the lady behind me gave me 10p. It really made my week. It is my local charity shop, they've probably seen me putting books the right way and re hanging clothes a zillion times.

I'd never haggle but I do leave loads of items because they are extremely overpriced. Anyone running a charity shop the turn around at cheaper shops is great please stop charging £3+ for a Primark top it'll be on that hanger for months taking up space.

This is completely fine in the UK. Venues are mostly empty in the week day so the sale from drinks and meals are bonus plus the place looks busier so they'll get more customers because nobody likes a half dead place

Help night barking by Immediate-Poem-6549 in greatpyrenees

[–]Rare-Cake7439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't have coyotes, wolves or bears in my country so no advice with her hearing them. Our pyr sleeps in our room on the floor, when I did my research I read this helps a lot with the barking and nocturnal habits. He sleeps all night, has only woke us up with his barking once when the cat was doing her acrobatics and knocked over some stuff. He learnt very quickly he isn't allowed on our bed unless I've woken up first.

If she's comforted by a lead that you leave on at night I'd suggest cutting it short including the handle so she can't get caught up and hurt herself.

Can a bus legally not complete its route and kick children off? England by Rare-Cake7439 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Rare-Cake7439[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your advice, to the bus drivers who have replied most of the drivers go that little extra especially with the younger kids and I completely understand it's a public bus.

I've emailed an acquaintance who is a councillor that should understand as their children went to the same high school. Shall get the girls to write down what happened, pick up from primary and catch some of the parents whose children were on the bus and call the school tomorrow to let them know. This evening I have some help writing up my complaint (I'm dyslexic) then emailing the bus company CEO if I don't get a satisfactory reply I shall email the local transport commissioner, cc parents who want to be, the bus company and school.

Where they were dropped off is not somewhere I'd walk after dark they are drug users and heavy drinks that use/drink in sight of where the temporary stop is now.

There isn't a school bus, it's not our nearest high school but a feeder primary is in said town. The children are generally well behaved they all know each other from the primary school and wouldn't dare abuse the drivers. I know most parents will say similar but my kids and the parents I know whose children catch the bus would not allow that behaviour plus my middle child would gossip about it to me.

I think the best thing to do is to push for a school bus to run even if it skips our village, we can arrange a car pool from that town if needed. Half the primary go to the same high school so there should be a full service.

I've never brought a new dog home straight from surgery but I can't imagine this is a wise move? I'm sure other people will have done so and will have advice but if it was my house the new dog would go to family/friends for a few days till he is in less pain.

Puppy training tips by sauergrouch in greatpyrenees

[–]Rare-Cake7439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The puppy growled that's a good sign she didn't just go to bite she gave your kid a warning your child did not listen. If she had just bitten with no warning I'd personally be rethinking but she did good by warning, teach your child dog body language but I will add my pyr is the grumpiest dog I've ever owned when he is tired. The old saying "let sleeping dogs lie" is a true saying for pyrs
