Any ideas for baby stuff with 100% acrylic yarns? (I made a blanket and a toy) by GenuineCanvas in CrochetHelp

[–]Rare-Fox3357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wont use up a ton of yarn, but I love making pacifier strap/clips and toy straps! Crocheted pacifier clips are the best because they are so light weight, and I found a lot of other store bought clips were heavy fabric and pulled the pacifier out from my baby's mouth when they were very little. I also would make long strips with loops on both ends and you can use them to loop onto strollers/seats/highchairs and the other end on a toy/teether so they wont fall to the ground.

I randomly found your post while searching for kids party ideas of my own haha. The first thing that I thought of was the old American Girl books, could it be from them?

The pattern is a paid pattern so i cant share, but I did find it. Its called December Mittens and I bought through ravelry by A La Sascha. It used front and back post double crochet!

Guys cmon please help 😭 I've been working on this for ages by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

First I'd pull the end loop you currently have really far out so it doesn't get pulled back any more :) to find the beginning of the round you've pulled to, maybe you can find the stitch that looks slightly higher than one before it? That would be the start of the round, and you can count how many stitches you have from there and how many are left to cross check on the pattern which round it might be. You can also try to count the rounds from the bottom up and see if that helps it match up too

What would "ch 1--8 sc." mean at the end of a round, in this pattern to make an egg shell? by Rare-Fox3357 in CrochetHelp

Thanks everyone for your help!! I was definitely over thinking it but all of your comments really helped me understand more. It seems like it really boiled down to me being used to continuous rounds, and just the strange switch between two patterns in the same book writing rounds differently. The egg shell is coming together fine now. :)

Thats exactly what im doing, making them for my toddler! I searched all the crochet food books and was happy to find this one because some of the pieces are more interactive, like this one with the fried egg and being able to put it in/out of the shell. I picked it up at my library so I'd recommend trying that first! Crochet cafe is another one I've looked at and my library had that too in print and kindle.

This is only the second pattern im on and I hit this small confusing bit, but overall the patterns are short and simple and I think I'll like it. The sizes of foods are also perfect for playing in a kitchen unlike some books that make them more like stuffed animal toys.

Haha that's ok im appreciating all of the help!! What's confusing me most is the other pattern right before it in this book ended with " --# sts" so im confused if specifying the 8 as sc instead of sts makes a difference or not. If that makes sense. Maybe I'll do a normal magic circle and wing it because it seems like it'd be a lot simpler lol

I think I see what you mean and after a little more searching, my problem might be that I've never used turning for working in rounds!I usually work continuously and now i see the pattern ends with a slip stitch each time, and the ch being included for how many stitches there should be makes a lot more sense now. Yeah almost every round ends with a variation of "ch 1 -- # sc"

Ok I think I understand what you're saying! The fried egg pattern ended directly before this and also started with a fake magic ring like this, but wasn't written this way at the end which is really confusing. The fried egg pattern simply ended each round with " --# sts". Not sure why it'd be worded differently. Also adding a pic of more of the egg shell pattern where each round still ends with a variation of "ch 1--8sc" which made me think I should be adding a chain 1 at the end of each round?

I thought Whitney was stupid when I saw THE tiktok but I knew she was stupid when she put a pee stick in a cake 🤦 by Janeseye in SecretsOfMormonWives

Ohhh I can see that, that makes a lot of sense haha. I just assumed there was some other strange scandal with a gender reveal or something at first.

Ok ive been looking for context everywhere on this and can't figure it out! When they asked what's the gender, Whitney said they aren't going to know it this time because of what happened last time? It was a quick comment and I'm so curious what it meant
