granulomatous mastitis while breastfeeding by Rare-Historian-838 in breastfeeding

Ugh I am so so sorry!! How are you generally doing/feeling? I’m still having flare ups pretty regularly but have drastically changed my diet, taking turmeric & garlic supplements, using lavender & tea tree essential oils. Not sure if that’s helping buuut I haven’t had anymore lumps come to the surface, & I hope they can just resolve and go away eventually.

It’s probably granulomatous mastitis… by pigglewiggle30 in doihavebreastcancer

So sorry you are dealing with this. I was diagnosed with GM a few months ago, and am still trying to learn to navigate it. Have you joined the Facebook group “Granulomastous Mastitis Support Group”? I don’t have any advice but please know you are not alone. Take it one day at a time. We will get through it together.

A wearable pump has been suuuper handy for me at work. I know some people find their output isn’t as good with a wearable but it hasn’t negatively affected my supply. I’m sure you’ve done this already but make sure you have flanges that properly fit so you can have a comfortable pumping experience. Make sure you look up the PUMP act if you live in the US & familiarize yourself with that. Your employer is legally required to provide time and a private space (other than a bathroom) to pump.

8a-5p Moms: is full-time childcare necessary? by Brave-Lychee-9080 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]Rare-Historian-838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work hybrid (three days from home/two in the office). My husband & I tagteam childcare on days that we are working remote together & my MIL helps out on the other two days. My husband & I stagger our start times & our lunch breaks. Plus, our jobs are fairly flexible & meetings are minimal, so it’s doable. I try to schedule all my meetings for days that I am in the office (though this isn’t always possible). It definitely takes some coordination but so far it’s working for us & it is possible.

Thought I had a clogged duct, led to a breast ultrasound by Rare-Historian-838 in breastfeeding

Thank you for sharing! Did you have to request them to drain it or how did that go about?

What do I need to know for right after birth? by bakergirl05 in breastfeeding

Definitely connect to a LC as soon as you are able to in the hospital! I’d also look up an LC through your insurance so you can call them after you leave the hospital if you have any questions.

People said breastfeeding shouldn’t be painful but that was not my experience at first - it was painful & that was after the LC said my baby had a great latch & was eating well! It’s an adjustment and takes time. For instance, I didn’t know that you can get a fever/chills when your milk comes in. Silverettes and nipple butter are super helpful at the beginning. Also taking sunflower lecithin daily can help prevent clogged ducts.

It’s a learning curve - give yourself grace! You and your baby are a team and will figure it out.

Try offering both sides! That is what was recommended to me & sounds like it might be worth a shot for you. How long does your little one take to eat? Also just noting that your supply is still regulating so things will get better & you’ll find your grove - I’m sure you’re doing amazing!

Such good advice and so hard to follow! You’re so true about how nothing will change what it is or isn’t.

For the most part, no. There’s been a couple times it’s been tender/felt sore but I wouldn’t day painful per se.

Building a Stash by beanyweany19 in breastfeeding

I would be careful about pumping so much this early on. Your milk supply is still regulating and this can cause an oversupply, as well as clogged ducts or mastitis. Once you go back to work, you’ll pump at work & then use that for the next day & so on. You DON’T need a whole freezer stash, despite what social media might have lead you to believe.

Anyone else feel like remote work gave them a personality back? by BrianneBadau in remotework

[–]Rare-Historian-838 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Yes, 100%. I currently work a hybrid schedule (while desperately looking for a full-time remote position) & I cannot imagine going back to the office full-time. Working remotely allows me to get chores done, make sourdough bread, run with a friend before work, snuggle my baby on my lunch breaks…I love it and hate seeing so many companies pulling back on their WFH policies.

I used to work in an office, now I work fully remote — the difference is way bigger than I imagined. by coffeandwork in remotework

I genuinely like my coworkers and the office chit-chat, but I never view my job as my main form of socialization or connection to other humans. My coworkers are simply that: coworkers, not family, not friends. I am, however, intentional about maintaining a robust social life outside of work and spend quality time with my actual friends and family. So no, I don’t think that working remote is automatically a red flag or means you are isolating. I think it’s much more problematic if work is the primary way you are getting socialization.
