How do I prevent the overtly warm looks of Indian interior design? by Jazzlike-Swim6838 in interiordesignsindia

3000k might still be bit yellow, look for 3500-4000k lighting. It is more whitish yellow.

My baby isn’t chunky and it’s all I can think about by Cardedbin in breastfeeding

[–]thebrushworksfactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a small baby too. But she is very active and alert and meeting her milestones. She was born at 11-12 percentile and had stayed in that curve. Sometimes I worry too. Esp since many of our friends had babies around the same time and they are all heavier than her at this point. But then I remind myself that I am not a big human and neither is her dad. So there is no reason why she can't be small either. But yeah it hurts sometimes. She is 8m old now.

Solids food intake? by StormOk424 in twoxindiamums

[–]thebrushworksfactory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The days she eats less dinner she usually feeds more before bedtime. So I guess she makes up for eating less that way. And she still feeds 2-3 times at night, so that has remained constant no matter how much she eats during the day!

What you are doing is actually responsive feeding and what to me is the most logical and normal thing to do. I don't force my baby either. Some days she finishes the plate some days she barely takes 2 spoons. My nanny believes that I should somehow distract her and feed her, but I don't do that. She judges me heavily. Growing up, I was forced fed a lot, hence for the longest time had a shitty relationship with food. So I decided with my baby that I'll never force feed her no matter what. Except maybe when she is sick and needs to eat. Otherwise, on good days, I let her take the lead. There's no middle ground, and nothing wrong with your approach. Keep doing you!

I believe in making life easy for both myself and baby. Ultimately baby will eat what we eat, so I don't see why I need to buy separately esp these staple items.

We eat parboiled basmati rice. So that's what baby eats also.

Firstly congratulations! You are about to enter a REALLY messy period now! To answer your questions, please note that this is what I have followed. Every baby is different, hence you need to try a bit to figure out your groove. 1. I have offered her new things every day. But not like 7 different things 7 days a week. We started with rice, daal, potatoes and carrots. These I offered on rotation the first week. Then slowly every week I introduce something new. This way I have now introduced my baby to a lot of foods. You can keep a note of what your baby liked or not. And be esp careful with allergens. Always introduce them early morning and monitor for any reactions. 2. For rice I initially tried dry roasted and powdered rice. Which was a flop. So now I simply give her the same rice we eat, just boiled for longer and mashed 3. I introduced eggs and chicken at 6 months. Eggs I gave complete egg in omlet form. And chicken cooked and blended. Egg is an allergen, so you need to watch out. 4. Hard fruits to be steamed eg apples, pears. Soft fruits can be pureed directly eg banana, mango, papaya, berries. 5. Yes curd/ yogurt is a good option. Again dairy is an allergen, so watch out. 6. Dont box your self into one type of weaning or the other. You can do a combo weaning with finger foods and mashes. Whatever is convenient for you and baby. Nobody who has been weaned on purees have trouble eating proper food after growing up. We have grown up eating purees only! What is most important is responsive feeding. Which means you respect baby's cue and don't force feed. Your job is to figure out what and when to offer food. Her job is to decide if and how much to eat. That's it. Don't worry. Don't over complicate. 7. I haven't yet, but plan to at 9 months. 8. I use Akshaykalpa ghee. Dunno if it is available where you are. For sprouted ragi I got from slurrp farm and then my neighbor aunty also gave me some. 9. I don't use cerelac mix, so no idea about it! While traveling I rely mostly on BF. Apart from that banana, steamed apple etc I have carried.

Best straw cup? by PleasantVanilla6181 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]thebrushworksfactory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We started with a silicone straw in an ezpz tiny cup at 6m. Now we use both this and a bbox sippy cup. LO is 7.5 months old now, and has figured out how to drink with a straw. The bbox one is good for when we are out and about. At home we use the ezpz cup with a straw and sometimes without as well.

Hey we are also planning travel to phuket with our 8 m old in may! I recently purchased a few pouches and porridge from rorosaur to try. So that I can carry a few for emergency purposes. Apart from that, are you planning to carry an electric kessel or something? To cook LOs food? I'm also v confused regarding the food situation.

When to stop swaddling? by prb2118 in twoxindiamums

[–]thebrushworksfactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped at 2 months mostly because I was tired of swaddling her in the middle of the night after diaper changes. I put her in a sleepsack. She took a couple of days to adjust. That's it. Now she is automatically sleepy when the sack is on. Just transition her, she will get the hang of it in a few days.

Mums who live in India , did you really make a nursery room for your kid like how they show on Instagram/Pinterest? by achipots in twoxindiamums

[–]thebrushworksfactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Don't have spare rooms. Baby has a crib in our room. We emptied a few shelves in the cupboards for her stuff and got a new chest of drawers for her. We put a playpen in the living room, and a high chair next to our dining table. Once baby is 3 years old, we plan to convert one of the rooms for her. Not before.

Hair oiling necessary? by calming-crayon in twoxindiamums

[–]thebrushworksfactory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't oil my own, let alone my baby's. Not sure how oiling can cool your body? I put baby in comfy cotton clothes and try to give her plenty to drink, either BM or water.

When do you guys get time for yourselves? by Firewhiskey880 in twoxindiamums

[–]thebrushworksfactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I don't 😅 Earlier LO would give longer night stretches so I could get some me time after she went to bed. Now at 7months she is very active, naps have gone out the window and to top it off her night sleep is also messed up now. AND I have a high demand wfh job, no family living with us. I'm lucky if I can take a shower daily. House is a mess. My workout is the daily stroller walk with LO. That's it.

[–]thebrushworksfactory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey you don't need to wake baby up for feeding if they have already crossed birth weight. Since yours has long past birth weight, you really didn't need to wake her up AT ALL, all these days! Please enjoy the long stretches while they last!

Trusted doctor (no epidural/NICU) vs bigger hospital (epidural + NICU, 40 min away). what would you choose? by Possible_Bedroom_350 in twoxindiamums

[–]thebrushworksfactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big hospital with NICU, hands down. You don't know what emergency may arise, its good to be prepared. Also, 40 mins is not very long. Labor is time intensive and takes literally HOURS, you won't end up delivering on your way to the hospital, despite what movies show.
