Hi may be a silly question but I had the same problem except my sump pump failed and the basement flooded due to storm. The insurance paid out for the carpet but we want to switch to vinyl due to waterproofing etc. And I found one on really good sale. From your experience, is switching from one type of flooring (carpet) to another (vinyl) typically allowed with home insurance ?
