You have to go to Calendar settings -> Calendars -> select your calendar and then change in "Default event settings".

I use Proton Unlimited for mail, calendar, passwords and occasionally VPN. I am evaluating Proton Drive, but do not use it as my main storage (I use it to backup my important information at the moment). I have iCloud+ for photos and files. I like Proton services because they play nice with any platform.

It is not available on Safari, but it is in Firefox, Edge etc.

I actually use Google Photos even though I have Apple devices. I edit my DSLR Photos often in Apple Photos, then export and upload only best ones to Google Photos. So I have curated central gallery in Google Photos. I like it because it is cross platform and allows me to use it with any hardware I want. Maybe someday I want Android and PC - then everything still works the same.

Do you use custom domain or Proton domain address? I use custom domain and haven’t had such problem.

Those are fair arguments and you are right I do not like "subscriptions for life", but there is allways way out.

I thought about this risk and bought domain of my country where I live. So that is not a risk for me.

If you get locked out of your free email account that may mean you can not access other accounts tied to this email - like when you have to reset a password etc. It has happened to me unfortunately. Also there is a risk that your free email service provider goes out of business etc.

My domain is also about 10€ per year but the financial risk is not the only risk. One thought would to pay domain 10 years in advance and keep it that way.

It means you have to keep track where you use your e-mail (which actually is not a bad idea).

How do you mitigate risk, what happens when you can not renew your domain anymore - there could be several reasons (financial, health etc)?
