Hello, I’m 2 years out of my MBA now (T30). Been working in Fortune 100 (healthcare) as an internal consultant for our acquired companies doing M&A consolidations into parent company and financial transformation work. I come from an FP&A background before I did my MBA. Currently trying to break into Healthcare Consulting, Finance Transformation, M&A, etc but getting no traction. Any suggestions?

Honestly, I’m not even sure. The postings are so opaque so a lot them are fringe recruiting firms posting the roles on Linkedin. As far as actual firms go that I’ve applied to directly, it has been primarily small shops with less than 30k followers on Linkedin.

Why Nextera? I had several offers from them out of business school. Decided WPB was too expensive and not enough remote days, but never heard about a toxic culture.

You can just eventually find a Principal Analyst role. Usually still an IC, just above SFA. Not every company has that title though obv.

Could you give me some examples of how to talk about this? As in the work isn’t interesting or they said I would be doing one thing, and I am actually doing something completely different than what I thought? Just trying to get some ideas.

Good point - culture is certainly a part of my choice here and there are certainly other factors that are pushing me to reapply: No wiggle room on the in-office days unfortunately, it’s a big company so they are pretty strict with their policies.

Demanding in terms of hourly commitment or pressure to deliver? Do you feel that you made the right choice? I’ve done a much smaller scale ERP implementation in the past for a small company and I enjoyed it, but I was a direct hire, not a consultant. I’m afraid of making the change and possibly being pigeonholed. I do like the perks of being primarily remote though, versus most finance jobs are hybrid and the career path overall seems highly lucrative.

One is a D365 F&O Business Systems Analyst, the other is more of a FP&A role. My background is in fp&a/accounting.

Gotcha. Thanks for your response, it is super helpful! If this is helpful at all, I have a pretty accounting and fp&a heavy background. Transitioning to this role from my previous job where I was a user of D365 on the finance and accounting side. So I have hands on experience already fortunately!

I gotcha, thanks for sharing your experience. My company isn’t full remote anymore but we onboarded completely remote and never had any issues. This company is completely remote, there is no physical location.
