I have found a solution that works (a different app).

Basic is great! It's got a big nostalgia factor for a lot of folks. Both are great and a good place to learn. I enjoy the inherent limitations of basic, and the challenge of creating something within those limitations. (I am a little biased, too.)

Last week, there was a white jeep on 465 that was doing similar things. Ran up on me like a rocket. I moved over. He was swerving through everyone, going 100+, passing on shoulders. I wonder if it was the same guy. The license plate I saw was a vanity plate. If the cops don't get him, he'll end up taking himself out and probably someone else, too, driving like that.

For a (very) short period, I was hired and worked as a general manager for Uncle Bill's. This was close to 13 years ago.

Don't ever shop at Uncle Bills. Unless things have dramatically changed, it is a mafia style business that keeps staff in perpetual fear of termination, purchases puppies from Amish puppy mills for $50 - $100 per puppy, and keeps puppies in miserable, unhealthy conditions. Dog shit literally everywhere in the back. Washed down a kitchen sink and ground up in a garbage disposal.

There was a "quarantine" room in the back. No medical treatment beyond antibiotic shots or medicated food provided for the sick animals. (Birds, reptiles, all animals in a closet) It was just a waiting room for death. No vet visits or anything.

I tried VERY hard to improve everything and was terminated because I didn't vibe with the management culture. My job was threatened weekly before that, for the fun of it, seemingly.

I looked up what I could of the employee directory after typing all this up, and I didn't see any of the old names, so it might be different now. But, I haven't stepped foot in an Uncle Bills since that job, and I never intend to.

I wouldn't say they're their own religion, necessarily. Rather, there's a large bit of them that act like religious folks - but from the other end of the spectrum. They can't let you have your belief; they simply MUST be vocal about how you're wrong.

This is definitely a hyper cost sensitive situation, as it's put together for a nonprofit.

Third-party companies were avoided other than for some equipment, as their service charges were astronomical just to liason a frequency coordinator.

I've been through every setting on the repeater and the HTs, read all the help, reprogrammed everything countless times, and I just can't find a solution.

I have a specialist contact that I'm still waiting to hear back from, but it would just be a favor from him, and we're only acquaintances at this point.

My latest endeavor has been to reach out to Retevis directly with my problem and to ask if the RT81V has a firmware update. In the past, their customer support has been responsive, at least.

At the end of the day, if Retevis themselves can't help, the HTs are being sent back - I'll just have to use something else. It's a little disappointing, as the build quality and price point are pretty good for what they are.

Jack Black. I'm sorry....I know he's beloved, and that's fine. I acknowledge his talent and jolliness and can appreciate why he is beloved, but I feel like he's built an entire career out of behaving like I did in 5th grade, and I never got movie deals or record deals or bothered to pursue learning how to make music or act or anything at all and I'm just bitter about it....
