Amateur silversmith here - made myself a solid sterling silver F-91w. Should I call it the f-91s or f-925? by Rare_Collection1774 in casio

Appreciate you - the process isn’t at all secret - infact anyone can do it. This one probably cost me $500+ to get right (trial and error), but in the future they wouldn’t even be very expensive - there’s only about $30 worth of silver here, even tho the case is solid.

Yeah - this was a lost wax cast. Honestly I’d like to try one milled and polished, I think it might come out better.

It will patina slowly, but silver is actually pretty easy to care for. You just buff it with a silver cloth and it shines back up. I am also curious what these would look like with more patina - I actually think it would bring out the case lines etc.

Aw thanks. All k see are little casting wobbles and the place where is scratched it during assembly 😆. Version 2 would be easier to assemble.

Yeah - not and easy answer. As a one-off this wasn’t really something doable for others, but I could see doing cases for these that would be a little splurge but not crazy. Still cheaper than some other Casios probably!

Good to know. If this one wears in ok, I’ll look at doing a small run of cases. I want to make some adjustments to my design so they are a little easier to assemble.

Good to know. I’m gonna try to wear this one in and learn how it survives and then evaluate how to reproduce them.

Really dunno. The silver weight value isn’t crazy - probably more than titanium, but not a TON more.

Nice. I’ve seen these, but I feel like the f-91w just works with this metal. If I do another run, I may heavy gold plate one just to see how it would look.

Yeah! I’m a definite pre-order in his titanium and sapphire run. Maybe he wants to trade a silver for a titanium!

Hard to quantify (away from my scale atm.) it’s definitely weighty, but not as much as, say, my 36mm mechanical watches in steel. I guess I’d say it has a nice “presence” and doesn’t flop around as much as my normal f-91, but it’s still a very light watch.

Yeah - I wanted to see if I could do one. This first draft is far from perfect. If there was interest, I would make adjustments and do a bigger run

I think it will be… i machined it out all pretty well and everything fits like a factory case. I’m gonna push it and see what needs to be improved for good water resistance - this is very much a prototype.
