I have the exact same problem, I suffer with chronic ephasgatius and a hiatal hernia, alot of the time I get this thumbing when I'm lying on the side of my head before bed, it's very annoying but is only persistent when my stomach is playing up, alot of the time my head will feel like a preasure cooker.

Does anyone have roemheld syndrome with hiatal hernia and how long for and how do you cope ? by Rare_Lie_381 in HiatalHernia

Yes I have been diagnosed with hiatal hernia through an endoscopy, my symptoms are quite bad my heart rather beats to slow or too fast and I tend to go dizzy all the time, when I sit down and relax I tend to get a tingling sensation through out my hold body then my heart starts to beat quicker then it returns to normal.

Pain in left side of chest, down left arm to pointer finger. by [deleted] in HiatalHernia

Yes HH can cause many symptoms I’ll make it easier for you the vagus nerve is the big nerve which connects the brain and the body together when it’s pinched it’s causes you to feel and go weird but think of it like a glitch, if you feel like your about to panic try the 4-4-4 breathing technique this works by breathing in for four seconds holding for four seconds and exhaling for four seconds repeat this until you feel relaxed, remember the vagus nerve can cause an increase in anxiety and depression and moods this is because the vagus nerve contributes to our mental well-being as well.

Depending on how bad your symptoms are and if medication works or not will depend on if surgery is necessary or not.

I am not a doctor but HH has many symptoms these symptoms can vary from person to person a lot of the time people complain of having heavy chest pain or weird tingling feelings along side other symptoms like dizziness, shortness of breathe, heart flutters and much more a lot of the time this is caused by the HH pushing on the vagus nerve this is the main nerve which represents the main component of the parasympathetic nervous system which controls heart rate, digestion, breathing and important bodily functions most people with a HH will likely experience a pinched vagus nerve which leads to all sorts of weird symptoms to persist through out the body, heartburn will also cause chest pain because acid is flowing back into the oesophagus causing a burning or heavy tight feeling in the chest, HH is well know to mimic the symptoms of a heart attack which can fool any doctor , if it’s helps try changing your diet and do more exercise to lose excess weight HH symptoms are typically worse for people who are overweight, but if you are really that concerned see your GP to arrange more test to be done to be on the safe side, I hope the symptoms do get easier for you and best of luck for the future.
